Driver , Cataracts & Named Driver ?

Enquiry made on behalf of a friend ( non pc savvy ) for advice

My friend has been diagnosed with cataracts and has ceased driving , his insurance policy covers him and one named driver , his question is how should he proceed with his policy ? the named driver will be doing the driving as usual , shopping , doctors etc .
Policy due for renewal in July , should he change it then or sooner?
All advice will be passed on so thanks in advance

If he's no longer driving, and the named driver is now the main user then he needs to inform his insurers. He should do this now, as if there's an accident and they discover that he's no longer driving and therefore no longer the main user, there are likely to be problems.
