Minimum Wage Jobs

Just looking for other opinions on this matter.
I signed on Friday at 9am before I went to my Work Placement and my advisor looked at all my Job applications and he looked at this Job I applied for and he said the following (Right this Job is an minimum wage, why you applying for these sort of Jobs)
I said, well I need to apply for any Job as I can't be fussy and he said well I need to be realistic. he's he right in saying I can't apply for min wage Jobs?
I think he is trying to find a reason to sanction me because I refused to remove my gay t shirt.
Also another thing, he keeps mention about this benefit changes coming in April, every time I see him he keeps saying I will have to attend Job Centre every day, I get the feeling he is trying to wind me up

Kindness kills - maybe he is telling you to better yourself? you've done training raised your skills set - why not apply for better paid jobs? alongside the NMW ones, you can only try can't you. I remember my jobcentre chappie who said the anger needs to be aimed at the employers and yes he was correct.0

Nothing wrong with minimum wage jobs.
Millions of us are in them.
Including myself-albeit nmw should be higher.0 -
That is a ridiculous response, it's a job, you've applied for it. I could understand if you were applying only for £20k+ jobs and neglecting the NMW ones, but not the other way around.
What are your qualifications like? if you have a good degree and have been in highly paid employment previously then prospective employers may think you're over qualified, but that should not bother your advisor as you are applying for any job you can.
In your position, my response would have been along the lines of - I'll apply for any job I can get at the moment, and once working I'll keep looking for a more appropriate position. If anyone at the job centre challenges that, then I'd question their ability to do their own job.0 -
Ridiculous and I find it quite hard to believe that the advisor would deter you from applying for min wage jobs. I expect it is all about the T shirt"'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

I thought you said he was fit and you couldn't ask him for help on courses because you found it hard to talk in his company
Or is this a new advisor?
Unfit?0 -
Gay_guy, you can upload up to 5 cv's to UJM so why not do what I and many others have done ?.
Create 2 cv's. One needs to be highly-polished and error-free. This one goes out to prospective employers paying enough to pay the bills.
The second one should be badly written with lots of errors. This one goes out to prospective employers who take the p1ss and don't pay enough to keep a roof above my head.Never Knowingly Understood.

What was the job? Just because it's minimum wage doesn't mean the adviser thought it was suitable. Maybe he thought you couldn't do the job. So what was it?0

Maybe he knew that your t shirt would not be suitable attire for the job concerned?"'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

The fit advisor was my tutor on the 2 week course in Nelson, this advisor what I am talking about now is my personal advisor at Job Centre.0
