Scottish Power Not Refunding a credit! What now?

Changed dual fuel Mid November 2013 from Scottish Power to EDF. Come Feb 2014, because 94 year old dad in hospital I failed to notice that SP had NOT refunded £150+ that I was in Credit. SO, used online contact us form asking why. Got return saying would reply within the next 5 working days. NOTHING! Sent another online form, titled COMPLAINT, received the same within 5 working day reply notice, NOTHING again, but then 6 days later on 24 Feb 2014 I got e-mail "I have issued the refund of £155.71. It will be credited to your bank account with in 7 working days.".
As of my bank statement 11 March 2014, still no refund! This is just plain "theft" of MY money that I have owed to me! What a load of professional wafflers I am dealing with!
YES, I should have raised this long ago, but as I am my dad's only help (I am 62) I have been rather busy helping him.
Any ideas on what tactics I should try now? I am at my wits end and refuse to use a phone to pay to sort out their gross inefficiency, and perceived dishonesty in keeping MY money!
Sorry for the rant, but I just feel utterly helpless and alone here.
Thanks, alex

  • ring them up would be a good idea, they kept my money too until I asked for it back.

No point in getting all worked up & emotional about it. and don't bother ringing it's a waste of your time.
Send either an E-Mail or recorded delivery letter marked complaint. They should acknowledge it and give you a complaint reference number.
You can't use the ombudsman until you've exhausted the suppliers official complaints process - which isn't normally a rant over the phone.. The supplier has got 56 days to sort it out or to send you a deadlock letter before you can get the ombudsman involved so the sooner you get a proper complaint in the sooner you can get it resolved
It took me 10 weeks and 5 snotty e-mails (including the complaint one) before I got my refund
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers

Thanks all for taking time to reply. I will try the 0800 number first and at the same time tell them what I intend doing. The thing that annoys me most is that this seems to be the norm for these rip off merchants to treat ex-customers with such contempt. If I were in debt to them this long, I would be cut off!
Kindest regards to all of you, THANKS, alex
