It's not difficult, have you got the confidence to have a go yourself, you'll probably find something on YouTube.
You need to get a Junction Box, where the cables go through ceiling pull them back into the loft and wire them up to your Junction Box, then run a new cable (a spur) to where your new light is to go.
Obviously turn the electric off while you're working.

someone has already had a look up in the loft, they say there is a junction box there where the wires from the light go into it, the wires are also encased in a tube (metal?) so none of the wires are seen, making it a bit more difficult, so I have been told.
Looking forward to the day I have nothing left to list on eBay

If you've already got the junction box that should make it easier rather than harder. Undo the box and unscrew the wires going to your light and then just relace it with a longer cable taking it to your new light. Before you undo the wires from your ceiling rose make sure you make a note where to add the new one. Cables normally run under floorboards and around the loft without the need for steel tubing. The omly time you need 'trunking' is if the cable was running down a wall under the plaster to a socket.
