Santander 123 current account

Opened up a Santander123 current account with money from a savings account.
Strange thing is, their system declined giving me an OD facility for £100, but gave me a cashback credit card with a £2300 limit, which I opted to pay in full every month by DD.
I did'nt need or want a OD facility anyway. Can anyone enlighten me as to why I was declined....I'm puzzled..:A

Santander themselves? Have you asked them?wannabe_credit_free wrote: »Can anyone enlighten me as to why I was declined
I'd guess they want to see some account conduct (and possibly some salary credits...did you say you'd be switching your income?) before extending credit facilities with no onus on you to repay regularly (the card will have a minimum payment requirement whereas the overdraft facility does not).
But just to be clear, did you ask and one was refused or did they simply decline to offer you one automatically during the application?0 -

I have the 123 credit card at the moment. i'm looking at setting up the 123 Current account but want to get the TopCashBack £35 for switching.

Our experience is that Santander link all accounts in their online management including savings and ISA along with CC and current account. All of the accounts have been opened at different times and just get added on the management tool. Not sure if you have to ask them to do this or if they just did it.0

I asked bank this question yesterday and she said, only 1 login required, all your accounts will be linked and show on your Santander, online banking account..
I switched to Santander, after being with RBS for 40 plus years. They could offer me nothing to persuade me to stay.. Hubby does huge mileage for work and spends over £100 per week on petrol. The cashback on petrol earns £9 per month, plus all the other incentives, I switched to make as much money as possible and have high hopes for this account..

Consider yourself fortunate , I have a 123 account that's maxed out , there is a small overdraft facility with it , that I neither want or need. Also have a Santander cash isa which has about the same amount of money in it. On top of all that an exemplary credit history, applied for their credit card purely as I wanted the cash back on fuel and they said no !! It was like " what do you mean no" .0 -
Just been in to Santander to open my new 2.3% fixed rate isa and I learned that we are able to have three 123 current accounts each paying 3%. I can have a joint account plus two individual accounts. They have closed the loophole where people were opening four individual accounts. Shall consider this.0

It wasn't a loophole, it was their policy until last week to allow 2 sole accounts per person. Before then, it was their policy to allow as many sole and joint accounts as people wanted.macro_duck wrote: ». They have closed the loophole where people were opening four individual accounts.
