I thought I would start this thread for anyone who is just starting thinking or going through the bankruptcy process, and feels apprehensive about posting.
Please don't be shy, come and talk to us, we are a friendly bunch!
This forum is an invaluable source of information and support and has helped me get through the last few months.
I lurked and didn't have the courage to post for about 3 months - but eventually managed to press the submit button and I am so glad I did.
Many people have helped me on this forum - you know who you are :A - which definately means that when you are having a bad day with it all, of which I had many, you do not have to be on your own, and there is always somebody to talk too.
We are all at various stages of the process, and if we feel we can, we post are own experiences, so whatever you need to ask their should always be someone who can advise you or point in the right direction to get the answers and help that you need.
If you need to ask a specific question then the best thing to do is start you own thread so the guys can give it their full attention.
So please come and say hi :j

I can only agree with all of that Jules.:D
We occasionally get the odd person being a bit of a pr@t on this forum, but in general it is a great place to get support from people who have been through the same thing or are in the process.
For those that are really are too shy to post, then register and PM me. I can suggest several places and sources of info that are not so public, or have more active moderation.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I just want to say Hi I have never visited this part of the site before today and have loads of questions but don't feel quite ready to ask most of them yet a couple of these are we are a yong family and most of our debt about 12,000 is from my hubbys first marriage we are paying token payments at present £1 pm but wondered if bankruptcy would be a better option don't really know much about what it means just really tired of all the stress we are at breaking point with it trying to put on a brave face and feeling like rubbish when we can't afford £10 pm there is also the fact that hubby is self employed in a partnership with his father don't know how it would affect that so many questions and bricking it have lived like this for years and its taking its toll.
Thanks for the welcome everyone it makes all the difference.

Hi Poppy,
Your first port of call should be to contact one of the Debt Charities; see links below. Their services are free; they have no vested interest to serve; their advisors are professionally trained and the advice they give will be objective and in your best interests only. CCCS operate a system of telephone appointments that are designed to be flexible and don’t require you to attend an office based interview. At the CAB you will need to make an appointment with a specialist Financial Advisor; other advisors may not have the specialist knowledge you’ll need.

If you’re advised that bankruptcy is the most suitable solution to your financial problems then we can offer the best support and anecdotal advice that you’ll find anywhere on the Web.
For more specific advice and support, in an environment that is managed by people with first hand experience of bankruptcy, and moderated to ensure that no deliberately inflammatory or abusive posts are made then please visit:
http://bankruptcysupportersclub.co.uk/default.aspx
Just remember, as desperate as you may feel at the moment, we have all experienced what you are going through at the moment and with the right support and advice things will improve. It’s not an easy route to take but it is a route that will put you back in control of your life rather than just reacting to events.
I hope that didn't sound too regimented but it's not really in our place to recommend bankruptcy, if you decide that it's right for you then we can hopefully make the ride a little easier for you.
Best regards
