    How many kids?

If 3 or less then a Honda Jazz is comfortable. if you need a 7 sweater then the quashqui do a 7 seater.

A toyota Corolla will be fine for 7. BUt there's probably mor eeconomical ones.

I'm catching up with the last two episodes of the Americans. Loved this series. DW tells me there's no point me revisiting the first series as this one's better.:T

Maybe. I didn't look..... I'll look and edit this in 2 minutes.

Update: No restrictions on start date, just "valid until 29/6/14".... so I could have used it immediately.
I think it is the price match ones that you can't use until the next day.

It is a first (and given their ages I suspect 2 will be enough [meow]). I find most small cars like a jazz or even the next size up (civic?) can't take 3 kids seats in the back and many also don't fit a rear facing seat in the back unless the seat in front is right forward.

As you know having done all our 3 with a 3 seats in the front configuration I wouldn't do it any other way. On own with the baby it is right next to you, with husband/wife it is right next to you both and no one has to go in the back.
    I think....

Was very fortunate to have somewhere to bail out to, and then find somewhere to move on to.
People mock older people who live at home, but if you're single and your parents live in the rough area of where you need to be it makes sense to crash there while you sort out the next stage/make your plans or buy a house. Especially with the high cost of moving and living alone, it makes sense not t "waste money" for short periods of time while one's life is changing.

If the SHTF it's good to know there's somewhere you can just turn up with your boxes ...

    So would I :)

I've always thought 26 was about "a good age".

I dunno. In theory yes, in practice 25-30 were pretty sh!te for me (despite having the wonders of London at my feet...).

I know that 40 will be here before I know it, so I have some Major Life Choices to make before then-ish. And a lot of progress to make if I want to achieve what I currently think I'd like to achieve

But I'll never forget that whatever happens or doesn't happen, it could usually be a lot worse. And I've got a lot more going on that looked likely a few years ago :)

It wasn't where I wanted to be - but there was nowhere I needed to be (hence eventually moving for job). I just needed somewhere to get away from everything and re-group. I was told I wasn't depressed (as there were logical reasons), but I'm not convinced I wasn't on the borderline of some kind of a breakdown.

6-7 months of not having to fend for myself/ lining up places to live/work were exactly what I needed. I volunteered for a few months to get myself out of the house and that was it. I had the money to support myself, but thanks to parental generosity I didn't spend anything those few months so it was intact when I was looking for somewhere to buy last year. We (me+ parents) also generally (but not always!) really enjoyed spending time together - I know they would definitely prefer it if I lived closer. They're very proud of the grown up job and house though.

I have been reading but not posting so much as I was on my phone, so a few catching up posts.

Happy 9th Birthday to Isaac. The NDG Mama products look amazing, I am with Gen in that I can make tasty food but not necessarily neat good looking food.

Cake decorating is up there with LiRs careful planned garden with pleached plants and white garden..just beyond me.

I can confirm NDGs suspicion that I am hospitable. It comes naturally to me in a Southern Irish kind of way . A 10 minute tidy up, rustle up food and drink from the pantry or local shops and we are good to go for single guests or an impromptu gathering for a dozen or more.

Nikkster..your garden looks so good, and I am glad you are getting such pleasure from it.

We had a fabulous overnight trip to Normandy. Bought wine as soon as we got off the ferry:)..OH went for quantity of quaffing wines over quality. He uses the Vivino app and tells me we have some great bargains. We also bought a case of Normandy cider. Stayed here http://www.ranconniere.fr/?lang=en

Friday went shopping in the market in Caen, had lunch and then late ferry home. We had booked a cabin even though it was aday sailing, good move as late Friday in June has lots of school trips returning home. I love French markets bought fabulous veg (for ratatuille and gazpacho) and lots of cheeses, camembert, Tomme, several different goat cheeses, pont l'eveque, a blue cheese whose name I forgot and a soft cheese in a box which was amazing but like a liquid in rind today . It was Wimbledon warm up in the village today and I was making a cheese board for about 50 people as our contribution to lunch...we served it with lots of provencal herb olives and a Kilo wedge of a lovely cheddar for those who would not appreciate smellier cheeses.

We had not planned to mark D day +70 on this trip, we have visited the monuments and memorials a number of times before, however the sheer scale of the civic recognition and the flags and bunting in gardens was really moving. At dinner we were chatting to an Amercian couple who had two teenage grandchildren with them.. they had done London, and were going to the American cemetery the next day. So sad, and poignant.

For cost per £, I'd be tempted to look at a Dacia Logan. 1.5 DCi is about £10k new (!).

    If you're looking for a little more style/practicality, I'd recommend a Ford S-Max.

Both of mine were 2.0 TDCi with the auto box, and were averaging about 40mpg.

    To Michaels' comment:

The ST manages two and probably would three, but I'd want a full-sized car for three on a regular basis.

Ford S-Max was a perfect size, as all five seats in the back are full-sized seats, that then fold into the floor. Mine were used mainly as a 5-seater.

Still not decided what to get next, but a Prius Plus seems to be a good bet, I'm just a little worried about a petrol engine and economy, spending 75% of my life on motorways, but I know a guy that does a Pancevo (Serbia) to Milan commute weekly and feels that they're worth it.

Smax is a great car by all accounts but I think they want something small on the outside as they are living in one of those ridiculous parts of London where spending Norht of a million quid doesn't get you off street parking:eek::eek:

I'd be tempted to look at a Prius, or a Prius Plus then.

I think (don't quote me on this) that they're still congestion charge free, so if in that area, that's an immediate £50 a week saving.

I think AddLee still have some ex Lewis Day ones, so it may be worth keeping an eye on their website, as the cars are well below market prices and seem to have been looked after.

None now, but keep checking, as they get snapped up quickly.

I just constructed and used my Spider Lobber again .... I'd left the shower room window open ... and there was a fat bodied spider on the ceiling there..... he's gone now. Easy peasy :)
