Macafee, the Symantec checker and malwarebytes.

I've got loads installed, that run automatically, that auto-update .... and I've never had one pop up and say "hey, looks like you've a problem".

As my PC's overloaded/slow, I was wondering if it'd be a good idea to go through them all, remove them all, then download/install new copies .... I'm sure updates must leave files kicking around on the HD that are not needed.... e.g. Install.exe ... update1.exe ... update2.exe .... update100.exe .... update 1001.exe ...... just downloaded patches that run and don't delete themselves. I did wonder if clean installs would free up some HD space.

I hate the Windows updates ..... they, too, seem to generate rafts of files that are then forever on your PC but you can't delete them as the programme didn't think it a good idea, and I can't just delete old files randomly.

I just started looking to see what I've got, certainly got Mcaffee, Malware Bytes, Spybot ... got other things somewhere though, but those were the three I could immediately see on the START/Programs button

    Stoners/munchies...;)

My thoughts too. I'd be selling Rizlas too.

Interesting fact. 'Rizlas' are actually called Riz La Croix. Riz because they were made from rice paper (rice = riz in French) and the La Croix (The Cross) is the name of the family that made them hence the picture of a cross on the packet.

Well, like the proverbial Flynn, I'm in!:)
    Brief summary:
main move was thursday. Up at 7. Went to get the van. Started hulking boxes & stuff around. Had a mate come up from south wales, & another bring his estate round. Couple of others helped.
Ended up with a massive relay - me & 1 other in the van lumping the big stuff/furniture. Mate in car getting the boxes. A couple stayed at the house. Would pull up, empty the car/van into the garage, & people at the house relayed the stuff to specific rooms (rooms were labelled wednesday).
Was mental, & non stop. Only a couple of tea breaks all day. No real panics - one time I missed some furniture which caused a minor delay, then a small panic to make sure all the big stuff was moved, & also to get the van back in time (to avoid paying for a 2nd day). Made that with 4 mins to spare...

Beds had been put together & made, so all was good.

There's a couple of boxes & 1 greenhouse still to move - 2 or 3 car journeys, but that's fine. Sat & ate pizza in the garage with everyone at about 9ish.

Bizarrely, then took it upon myself with wales mate to construct a big ikea piece (the 4x4 expedit thingy...:o )
Friday - the plan was to ensure everything was in places. That all came to a grinding halt when partner of estate driver went into labour (twins, 9 weeks early). Everything got dropped for that for a day. However wales mate & I strimmed the garden first (I then raked up 12 sacks of grass! )

Unpacking proper started across saturday & sunday (though I went bowling saturday for a rest!). Shamefully, I've pretty much devoted most of my time to sorting the music room. New stereo is set up, vinyl in its place. 70% of cd's sorted.

Managed to bodge the tv aerials sunday. At least there is a signal (for now). Was weird being so out of all loops for days.

Have now unpacked the majority of stuff. Just need to find homes for things.

Need to work out the boiler too - still have no hot water. Popped elsewhere for a shower/shave the other day. Kettle washing isn't a long term plan!

Need to work out where pictures etc are going. Need to have a thorough sort of clothes too. I also need to stop walking into rooms, surveying the vast amount of stuff that needs doing, shaking my head, then repeating in various other rooms. Things are happening slowly. Normal life is starting to resume though, back at work now etc, so it'll be a case of pottering about.

Have settled very quickly (too quickly?) Sitting by the pond, watching the wildlife with a cuppa has become very easy.

    2 important things:
1 - I have some amazing friends - of the pixel variety, & in real life. I'm indebted to so many people for help, advice, support & the amount of carrying they've done.
2 - the babies appear to be fine. one is still on a ventilator (they are non-identical twins & were only 3.4/3.6) & are still in intensive care, but appear to be fighters (with ridiculously big feet!)

I know what you mean. I was told there'd be a psych person there today to get me through it and there wasn't. What happened? I got through it.

TBH it isn't that bad really. We'll see how I am when the side effects kick in after a fortnight but for now I'll just rely on myself.
With the support of your friends & family;)

Let me know if there's anything you want to ask matey. My friend will happily share experiences.

If anyone hasn't seen this video, I implore you to watch it. The music is fantastic too (I'm annoyed the cd/vinyl hasn't arrived yet...)

Er, as a rule you need to be careful. It's possible to have too much security on your computer.

Your list isn't a problem, per see. You've got one antivirus, and two antimalware but assuming you are only running one of them automatically it should be fine.

On demand scans are generally fine. But if you've got two security products of the same type running in the background that produces leakier security than just one.

    So... one antivirus
    One antimalware
One firewall (on the computer; your router will have one as well and that's fine)
(and optional: One sandbox program, although if you internet browse using chrome that's built into the browser).

That's what you need, but you can have on-demand scans to run as and when.

Did you do groin thrusts on the front driveway - to show the neighbours who is King of the Castle?
One side is empty/for sale, the other is a business. No one to show the groin too...:o

I have no internet for 2 weeks, so my appearances may be intermittent. Mind, it's not like I won't have stuff to do.

I've been having a quick scan of the thread, but if I've missed anything significant in the past week, can someone let me know? Have become aware of Gen manning up. Have GBD/wheezy/misskool been about?

    Importantly, is everyone ok/well/happy?

One for michaels, Kelis has announced a tour. Noticed she's playing the institute in brum late this month.

Oh that's a shame... it might be worthwhile picking up some gin boxes from the offie - and leaving them out by the bins, so that passers by know you're a proper homeowner.
