You've not met my husband have you? He thinks nothing of going to LA or Seattle for the weekend. Went to Australia to see Kylie in concert. Planned to go to Japan to see a band in concert until they fortuitously announced they were playing London (at which point I had to politely tell him it was bl**dy stupid to say he wanted to go to Tokyo for a concert but was a bit unhappy about having to take the tube south of the river to Brixton). Thank goodness he works for an airline. We'd be bankrupt otherwise.

But has he ever packed his cheese sandwiches in foil and taken 4-5 hours to cycle slowly (walking pace) alongside an English beach, stopping at random benches to nibble a sandwich and enjoy the view???

There's too much rushing about in the world :)

Tell him that.... there's no shame in enjoying a slow pace.

Here's one I did .... and I did the same distance in the other direction too

That's the route I took by accident when I went for a stroll one night.... and ended up at the far end thinking there'd be a bus, but there wasn't, so I had to then walk back too .... and I got the soles of my feet mucked up by the cheapo crocs I had on :(

That looks lovely. How long would it take to walk (possibly with periodic stops for ice creams and drinks? Presumably there's a bus in the daytime???

    Two thoughts watching the vid:

    1) Wow, it's gorgeous, I can see why Pastures wants to settle near there.
    2) You are a really good cyclist and read the road very well.

I just Google Pedometer'd it. Video is about 2 miles, then there's a pier and then another mile and another pier, then there's 3-4 miles and you reach the end. 7 miles in total of uninterrupted flat space, with continuous sandy stuff .... and over 1000 beach huts that'd cost about £25-40k to buy, plus £1000-1500/year ground rent. The huts don't have power/water and you can't sleep in them.

£32,500 is the cheapest for sale on that stretch at the moment

I should organise a whip round .... *grins*

I'm in. You can run the NP celebrity lookalike house visitor business from the beach hut. I will provide an aggressive tax avoidance scheme.

Our daughter is going with BA/Qantas to HK then HK to Cairns and back out of Sydney for just under £800. That is a 4 week return.

No, this is a moneysaving site, you need to offer a "valet parking" service at some posh venue and then instead of parking the car straight away use it for delivering the posh lookylikey before returning it to its owner.

The creativity of the NP never fails to surprise me.

Or is there a common scallywag trait amongst NP?

But if you're ever in Aus and want to go trundling, here's a bus that runs regular long-distance routes up and down the right hand side; just hop on, hop off. http://www.ozexperience.com/

When she was in Aus on her own our daughter used these to see the great ocean road and do the red centre. As a single traveller it meant she could do some stuff with a reduced risk. Traveller were mixed ages, at 23 she was one of the youngest, and she palled up with a woman about 10 years older than her for the red centre and is still in contact with her and one of the guides. Otherwise she used grey hound, she thinks Oz Ex has changed hands since she last travelled so has not booked anything with them this time but may do.

Recent work for OH has had bureaucracy at its highest, heightened tension from when first proposed (couple of years in planning), massive massive massive security, arrests, two heads of state, one more to go, and three weeks away from home.

OH has emailed. Key client say this is a success on many fronts...they would like to do it again next year.

I have emailed him back to congratulate him as I think he is a little overwhelmed.

He has been invited to the capital for discussions in July. I am invited too:)

At least I'll get fed and not have to look for a job :)
    Bit of a bonus there!
