Mortgage appears to have been agreed - although I have only been told so on the phone and I won't believe it 'til I see something in writing!
Had an acknowledgement/receipt of application letter.
That's all. Everything here feels like it has ground to a halt.
Have acquired a significant number of boxes. Perhaps packing will take my mind off things.

I was travelling to the US once and the plane aborted a landing at the last minute, as another plane wandered onto the runway. BUt I'd rather that than what my parents went through when aplane aborted a takeoff at the last minute . The plane ended up in a net at the end of the runway, nobody hurt, but somehow that kind of an incident would worry me more. :(
Mate of mine flew to america last year with his family. They had window seats next to the wing. On the way there, as they took off, the engine burst into flames!

On the return, the take off was aborted 2 or 3 times. Apparently his son gripped the handrail the entire journey back.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

    fabulous! Thanks for the update.

I have hit a sartorial low and am at the cinema, almost in my pyjamas (have my pyjama top on under a hoodie). I'm watching a play, and there is an intermission... A bit odd at the cinema!

Earlier I put jeans and a coat over my onesie, put my generic sheepskin boots on and went to the supermarket for some milk...

Congratulations to chewy on the mortgage thing. Hope you're going for a fixed rate. Pressure on interest rates is to the up side according to our highly regarded chief economist at work.

I got a very lovely message from fir in my inbox this morning.

    Good news!

Have you had the survey results yet?

No - I don't really know what "agreed" means, they just said it and that they didn't need any more documents. They haven't done a valuation survey yet.

It is a fix, but only for 2 years. Hopefully that is a gamble which doesn't go horribly wrong.

Only in recent weeks have I told Mr S any detail about this thread and the people who post on it, about their children, house buying, MOOC, health. Whilst we were away this week (Cyprus) I borrowed his phone to check the thread for 'news' of your diagnosis.

We got back last night and I logged on this morning to read your news. OH asked "how is your friend?".

I have never shown him this thread and am so glad he understands.

Why have you got your pyjama top on?

Was getting changed after getting in from work, and I figured it wasn't really worth putting on a whole other set of clothes only to get changed again later.Wasn't like I was going out for dinner/ a drink before going to the cinema. And not like there was anyone accompanying me to feel like I was showing then up.

I think I'm taking to spinsterhood a little too well. I'm certainly not improving my chances of escaping it :rotfl:
