The short modern orthodox answer would be along the lines that you can't light it as you can't create a fire.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

The feeling of "yours" > stuff. The freedom of coming down the stairs never to be greeted by an envelope containing a S21 or S13Exactly, it's yours and your childrens' Lydia. that's the most important bit. You'll get there with the other stuff, it'll wait until you're ready and able to tackle it.
Oh yes, don't get me wrong, I love the feeling that it's mine. But I'd also like to end up with the thing done up. Most of the time I haven't the energy to think about it, so I don't get stressed about not having the energy to do it. Reading the two of you and jelly discussing what you'd like to do to your houses makes me wish I could make a little more progress with mine, though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? I have done so little. There is some stuff I really should get going on. Planning to make some phone calls tomorrow. If only because my parents are talking about coming over again and I don't want to have another conversation about why I haven't sorted x, y, z (previous conversations have all ended up with me very maturely reminding them it's my house so it'll be my fault and problem if it falls down).0 -

That only just occurred to me. I'll copy/paste it over.0 -

This evening however, tiny miracles appeared via messenger from a lady I have never met. Beautiful pictures of my mum mainly, because it would be her birthday tomorrow (56) but my uncle, aunt and grandparents.
My grandparents didn't keep photos. I think something happened and my granma might have destroyed most a very long time ago but when your mum dies at the age of 45 and didn't like having her picture taken, a child is left with very little. Nice people parents, please have photos, for the day that comes, hopefully no sooner than it should.
I can see my children's faces there. It's so surreal but incredibly precious. And my grandparents were very beautiful people! LIR, cousin looks JUST like my grandad as a young man without the Brylcreem and suit
Wonderful for you. I hope they help in keeping her close to you and known to your own children.0 -

yes, it is lovely again - except first thing I opened my curtains, but now they're closed again so I can see as the sun's so bright
I was thinking about this yesterday and in the new house I've already worked out where "my spot" will be in the living room so this doesn't happen.
Today I have to do really boring things .... I've some recycling to drop off and a tiny bit of shopping to do0 -
I'm tired and I've got a headache. All I want is a glass of white wine and to get out of this terrible humidity and into the air con.
Did you lot hear about the cyclone about to hit northern QLD? It's a biggie in an area that's not had a big cyclone in over 50 years. It's a category 5 although I suspect that means nothing to anyone but perhaps Viva.
It's due to make landfall pretty soon I think. They closed up the cyclone shelters a few hours ago though to stop people making a last minute dash for them.
They're predicting winds of up to 300km/h or about 180mp/h. When that happens you put tape on your windows so they don't shatter when they get blown or sucked out.0 -
Stay safe Gen.
What is the logic of closing the shelter when people may need them?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
