MBNA/Alliance & Leicester Credit Card

I wrote to MBNA to complain about PPI on two credit cards (Virgin and Alliance & Leicester) - they have upheld the claim on the Virgin one and paid out just over £900. On the Alliance & Leicester one they have written back to say "I should point out that the statement that you provided was issued by Alliance & leicester and not MBNA. If you have evidence of PPI being charged by MBNA, we would require you to send us evidence of this".

I did not send any statements with with my PPI complaint. I am now confused with the A&L credit card - was the PPI paid to A&L? How do I handle this letter?

Any advice welcome.
