This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning all

Happy birthday tru have a good day xx

Quick one from me as I'm off to work

Had a lovely walk round the local dam yesterday 3.8 miles , it was lovely but the wind was vicious .it really whipped across the dam . Dd2 thought it was great :D

Hopefully I can get some gardening done today when I finish work , also washing and ironing

Have a lovely weekend everyone xx
  • Good morning to sistercas and to all who cross/follow,
It's a bit windy outside and looks very cloudy. I'm not sure what the weather has in store for us today. As long as it doesn't rain i would like to tidy the borders in the garden.
It's hubbys birthday today. Not doing anything special as he is probably working tonight. We don't go out anyway, not very sociable i suppose.
Washing machine is on. Have been trying to keep up to date with it, so just a couple of loads to do. Need to have a hoover round.
Tea tonight is chicken, chips and salad. Quick and easy.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hubby's working today but not 'til 8:30, fish have been fed, hubby & I have a cuppa each.
Hugs for those in need, hubby's shifts are changing on a day by day basis & I'm not always up to date with the thread.
Not as foggy today nor as cold.
Plans for today include bottoming one room, getting the washing done & cutting out some more taggies & getting the exhaust done on the car as I didn't manage it y'day. We are collecting one of the DGC later for an afternoon out as a treat.
F1 qually is being recorded, we'll watch that this evening & I'll crochet, I expect we will watch the race live tomorrow.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • Morning all!

It's been a while ... I got an allotment and it sucked my time in a most pleasurable manner ;) But I had a serious look at my finances yesterday and realised I need to tighten my belt and stop buying takeaway pizza on my way home even if I am tired, hungry and think I've earned it. So back to MSE I come.

Going to be a heavy slog at the Lottie today as the Allotment Society has arranged a skip into which I can toss all the carp left on my plot by the previous tenant (who didn't actually do any gardening but did like Scotch). Some of the men from the Committee and my Farmer Friend will be over later to lend a hand and I'm hoping we can be done by lunchtime depending on when people show up.

After that it'll be a hot shower and snuggles on the sofa for me as I'll be sore and tired and happy :)

Hope everyone else has a good day :)

At least we seem to be starting the day fog free, not like the last couple of days.

Had an interesting trip yesterday, tour of a very grand hotel, taken around by the very well connected owner no less, and then afternoon tea, he was so interesting with lots of gossipy anecdotes, a real character, all for the grand sum of £7.75 each, very MS.

Catchng up with washing today, doing Oz theme dinner tonight and plan to go Hereford way for a few days next week, weather permitting, with the caravan.

Hugs wherever needed, I am feeling very generous with them today!

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, overcast, dull and dreich – but warmer and not raining.

DH and myself awake and enjoying a peaceful first cuppa of the day. Boys still in their pits.

Dinner last night was chicken and ham kievs, chips and beans/veg for the menfolk, I had mushroom omelette and salad. Our friends arrived last night and after we’d eaten we went down to make sure they’re ok and to make them feel welcome, we had a chat and shared a bottle of wine. We’ll stop off this morning and let them follow us so they know where to go to the promo event.

I’m pleased with what I achieved yesterday, I just pottered along working steadily and I got everything done I wanted except I didn’t get chance to do any baking/cooking – but I knew that time would be tight so I did buy some ready made dessert type things – so there’s dessert type food in the tins. We’re eating out tonight so will be very careful what I eat for the rest of the day. I’m certainly finding that if I keep busy I’m managing to keep the CBA mood away – slept better again last night although I had consumed some wine but just generally feel a bit calmer and settled. The last 2 days I’ve just pottered along keeping busy and active and not letting my brain work overtime, it’s very good that we’re busy at the moment so that helps – work was horrendous every day I was there last week and then I was busy at home on my days off so towards the end of the week I was shattered and have been sleeping much better.

The boys will be wanting to watch the Rugby and the GP over the weekend whilst we’re busy at the promo event.

Have a good Saturday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all,

WM is on, sky is fog free and I can see little bits of blue sky :)

Off to drop DS2 to work and get some bits of shopping. DH has to get the lock up garage emptied by the end of next weekend so I expect I will get roped into doing that. Hopefully I will find time to clean up a bit too.

    Enjoy the day everyone...

    Morning everyone,

Happy birthday to Tru and to FS's OH.

    Molly, Snoozer, Hilstep Hugs.

    Judi How are you?

nmlc The rugby will be very keenly watched in our house too!

Been another really busy week which ended with us all being kept late at school last night for speeches to "celebrate" doing well with Ofsted! They did give us some food though so it wasn't all bad.:D

MIL is staying at the moment and we are going to see "Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake" this afternoon. DD1 and DD2 are coming too, I am really looking froward to it.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Happy Birthday tru!
Milder here, the wind last night was so cold! It is drizzly though so the washing will have to go on the airers.
Got the dressing table up stairs last night so the kitchen looks huge! It's amazing how quickly you get used to something being in the way. I put the old dressing table on Freegle so someone is coming for it this morning, just as well as it is filling the hall, I can either get into the kitchen or bathroom, not both!

So tired last night we had a chippie tea, don't really know why I bother as I don't enjoy it very much. The builders are getting on with the roof and have left it watertight till they return on Monday, I am going to finish sanding the bedroom and then give it a good clean to start painting later.

Need to go shopping, didn't go yesterday (apart from for a bottle of red!), the cupboards are so bare. Still, DD can help as I have lost my way with shopping and cooking while there is so much going on with the house.

Hope you all have a good weekend and have better weather than us! Take care. XX
  • Good morning everyone :)

I am back home with DH

Journey home was a bit of a pain due to Cheltenham Gold Cup and I missed two connections but managed to catch up a bit and was only 45 minutes later than original plan.

Weather is grey but it's not raining and it's very breezy so the washing is blowing on the line and there is another load in the machine.

Plan is to see DD and GDD today, collect GDD's bike and make plans for her birthday next weekend. First I need to check the freezer, make a meal plan for next week and get some shopping.

Happy Birthday Tru - I hope you have a wonderful day
    :bdaycake:

Now that Wales can't win the rugby, I want Ireland to win but DH wants France so that should be an interesting game!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)
