I have a pretty extensive friends list and but four of them met playing either gta4 call of duty (black ops,mw2,mw3). Not had mic on for about 18 months but just got the xbox one and will be about somewhere on titanfall and looking to take up where I left off 18 months ago. Have met some extremely friendly and fun folks using headset and long may it can continue.Started advent comps 04.12.2013

havent played online much. had the headphones at first as it was a novelty but soon got tired of it. its too much of a distraction. i imagine it would be fun playing a private match with friends you know. all my friends are henpecked and not allowed to have a console. so that has never been possible for me.0

Party chat will be a big contributor to this - and thank god for it, I like to enjoy a game without people screaming down my ear. I doubt you'll find much improvement on the XBox One either. I just get the feeling that if people are playing amongst friends then they will choose to speak to their friends - I know I do.
Additionally, the way BF4 works minimises the way chat works. If we assume you are on Conquest mode (if not, why not?!) then you can only be in a squad of 5 maximum. Therefore the chances of you hearing anyone else diminishes.0 -
I've wondered the same thing, used to chat is BF3 on the PS3 all the time, sometimes GTA5 (though turned off chat if it was a bunch of idiots trying to talk gansta)
In BF4 on PS4 its mostly silent, sometime a few Spanish/German speakers. Be better if you could region or even country lock the servers.0 -
I have the same issue on PC playing titanfall, Im quite new to PC so not sure if its my set up etc, but it happens also on xbox one.
frustrating when your playing team based games.

I remember playing Wolfenstein on the Xbox and there were gamers of various nationalities which made it interesting trying to work as a team.0

I play FIFA 14 on PS3 most often, and use a headset, but I would say only about a third of other players (if that) have a headset on. Great for co-op play in a team as you can't hear the opposition except during replays of your great goals. Does get annoying when playing drop in matches with random people though. When you don't have a headset but others are using them, you can hear them speaking through the TV speakers which I find more annoying than hearing them through my headset. I think headsets haven't taken off on PS as much as Xbox, as they are only used in game on PS3, as opposed to in any sort of party mode.0

well i changed from ps4 to xbox and I'm glad i did. not a big improvement but some improvement to say the least and i have my old 360 friends who went to the one. any xbox one players who play BF4 can add me. SACRAMENT BLADE
cheers all0 -
Xbox Live has always been better than PSN for online chat, maybe because the Xbox 360 shipped with a headset and PlayStation 3 didn't. I have a 360 and a PS3 and have hardly ever spoken to anyone on the PSN but on XBL there is a lot of interaction every time I'm online. I cant say for the one as i don't own one, but the 360 users will carry over and probably be just as chatty.0

I doubt I will get an XB1, I still have my original xbox 1 in the attic lol.
But the price of it is now too much for the times I play, I am happy to stick with my 360 - most of my buddies are too and those that have an XB1 have kept their 360 in order to stay in touch and lay with their buddies.0
