Why isn't nobody using chat in battlefield 4 PS4? May change to XbOne

Hi.
I recently changed from Xbox 360 to PS4. On the 360 i used to play BF3 a lot and would always hear other players talking on the VoIP. This was great as we could use team work to win the game and meet new online players.
Now, I have changed to PS4 and I play battlefield 4. I have played about 36 hours and i have literally talked to 2 people on there. The rest of the time it is quite. I know people join chat parties but surely not everyone? I am seriously considering on selling my PS4 and buying a Xbox one as the chat feature is important for me while playing online.
Or is it the same on Xbox one with nobody taking?
Anyone else had similar issues?

I have never played on battlefield but from all my time on the PS3 I've never held a conversation with anyone...I've heard a few slanging matches..

Tbh, this was the norm when I would try online games on the ps3, playing randoms on the 360 seemed to have more in-game chat.

I always switch chat off when using the Xbox, due to the volume of hyper american kids who haven't taken their meds.

This goes back to the early PS3 days. Xbox 360 shipped with a half decent mic so you got lots of chat early on as everyone had a mic. The PS3 never shipped with a mic, party chat wasn't even possible etc so no-one spoke, and that's what made me ditch the 360 in favour of the PS3, the lack of little kids ruining every single game.

Now people have moved on from PS4, which ships with a mic, but no one is used to chatting in game. Plus the mic is rubbish. I play with a Triton headset, but disable chat and mute other players who are being OTT as the nonsense spouted by some idiots the world over does my head in.

People are less talkative in-game on the Xbox One compared to the 360 due to the party chat and Kinect system. People tend to stick to using their Kinect mic for party chats especially when they have a gaming headset due to the compatibility issues with the new controller.

Moving to Xbox One probably won't help, but I'd suggest finding a group of friends that play often to party up with them.

I've had plenty of random chats on Xbox one, even made a few new friends online from it too.

Defo a plus for the Xbox community.

I only like games where people are talking.
Whether its pulling each others legs and humorous name calling or actively saying "so & so is over there" etc.

Its when the Americans join with their over the top BS way that the chat tends to get noisier.

If PSN was no good for chatting them I doubt I'd ever want it.

I was on COD Ghosts for the free MP weekend and no1 was talking (didnt have the mic plugged in so maybe thats why), its a shame as Ive had a right laugh before, not joining but listening to others moan about others on the other team and then swear/shout at them in the lobby.
