Sorry, needed to delete details as do not want my screen name to be recognised by family/others who could recognise me due to other posts on other forums I've made.

Thank you to those who replied.

    Hi,

Please go to DogLost. Phone vets, police, RSPCA. Don't just stick to ones in your area, go further afield.

Posters up, leaflets through doors. Share the photo on Facebook, Ruaridhs FB page is on the link below, please join up, and post the dogs photo there, with where he's missing. We have members as far afield as USA, and definitely ones down South, and they'll keep sharing.

There's also the thread for Ruars which has a mountain of information on it.

Hi, thank you all, some good news, I put his details on DogLost last night after getting advice on here though only had a photo of him as a puppy to put on at such short notice but it shows his colouring. Went back out to look for him at 6.30am today. Retraced our steps (was on a 1.5 hour country walk when he went missing near the end of it). Anyway, at 9am someone called to say they had found a b/collie at about 11pm last night. He was standing in the road and narrowly avoided being hit by a car so they took him home. They checked DogLost this morning and saw his details. I was about to call dog warden at 9am when they called me.

I know I am very lucky to have him back safely and that people looked after him last night.

(was trying to stay anonymous on the forum but wanted to share update as its thanks to your advice I registered him lost on DogsLost as couldn't think what to do when he went missing so thank you)
