morning sickness

Got really bad mornig sickness, but havent yet told my employer Im pregnant.

I want to stay as long as possible before telling them, they wont like it, maternity allowance.

What happens if they kick me out early, Im not sure about my employment contract, they never gave me a copy and if I ask about it after being so sick they may put 2+2 together?

How long have you worked there?

I don't really understand what you mean by 'I want to stay as long as possible...' or 'What happens if they kick me out early..'

Why would they kick you out early, earlier than what? Is your job only temporary or fixed term or something?

You're at the very least entitled to see the written particulars of the terms of your employment.

And dismissing an employee on grounds of pregnancy is not a fair dismissal. I'm not saying it wouldn't ever happen.. but taken to a discrimination or unfair dismissal complaint... they'd loose ;)

Right .. you NEED to tell them to protect yourself, if they put 2 and 2 together by themselves and fire you...then you will have no grounds for discrimination.

If you tell them now and they do fire you - you will get every no win no fee lawyer wanting you to sign up with them because they would have to have a VERY valid reason for firing you.

& you'd also get M/L pay off the goverment.

You are not protected unless you tell them!!
People don't know what they want until you show them.
  • I had really bad morning sickness for months with my last two pregnancies. I dont think I can work through that if its the same as last time.

What is the official time you are supposed to take maternity leave?

You can start maternity leave in or after the 11th week before your baby is due.

    So 29/30 weeks roughly.
