Insurance cover when buying a car privately

When we had overlapping cars, the insurance company covered both for 14 days, giving us a chance to dispose of the old one. Ring them again and ask to speak to somebody intelligent.Je suis sabot...0

I think I'll try WBAC just to see what they say.
To be honest, in some ways it would be a shame to scrap it as it still drives really well. If someone was prepared to change the exhaust and fix the other minor things then I can't see why it couldn't serve someone well for a couple of years. However, I don't fancy doing the work myself and can't justify the cost of paying for it to be done....
Do dealers tend to buy cars of this age (W reg) or would they only be interested as a part-ex?
I think that all in all I'm not going to get more than a couple of hundred for it so no reason to waste ages trying to get a few quid more, if WBAC offer what they say on their website then it is probably fair.0 -
There' another similar company called We Want Any Car ??? who offered £100 or so more but Id not done any research on them ( plus there were no outlets near me).0

I think I saw them. They offered about the same as WBAC but the nearest outlet was about 120 miles away! It was actually ideal if I'd been visiting my mother as it is about 3 miles from her house but not much use here...0

Bung it on ebay on a 7 day auction and it should be gone by next weekend leaving you free to buy a new car.0

The main down-side of eBay is that I'd need to keep it insured - I've just put a deposit down on the new car.
Would eBay buyers want to test-drive? I'd have to SORN it so test drives would not be possible.
WBAC have offered £158 after their fee is deducted and as there is still 7 months tax on it so I'd get about £70 or so back.
I suspect I'll be unlikely to do substantially better than that on eBay based on what is on there now. Some are going for £500 but most not much over £200.0
