Are street boards indicating restriction compulsory

We got a PCN last night for parking in what was deemed according to our ticket as "parking in a restricted street where waiting and unloading restrictions are in force" We did display a disabled badge and are aware of parking restrictions and where we can and cannot park. When I checked the ticket and found out the reason I looked for the barely visible kerb markings and had to use a flash and camera to show as evidence. I walked the length of the street and there were no plates on any wall, or post indicating restrictions, in fact I was parked just forward of a loading bay. Is it a legal requirement to display restriction plates?
If youcan lie down at night knowing in your heart that you just made someone’s day just a little bit better, you know you had a good day!!

The signage requirements are quite specific, it depends on the area, if it was a restricted area, then signs just on the entrance to area, or the street might be sufficient, rather than alongside every yellow line. Head over the the PePiPoo forum, they have more expertise when it comes to dealing with council/police issued PCN's.0

Yep, post a pic of both sides (THE BACK AS WELL!) of the PCN here and get help:

Most people win most appeals anyway - and the success rate on pepipoo is over 90% IMHO.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
