i have just bought this Dorlux mattress from Argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/zone/flyer01Zone/partNumber/6664419/Trail/zone%3Dflyer01Zone.End+of+catalogue+sale%3EC%24cip%3D1500004857.Furniture%2Band%2Bfurnishings%3EC%24cip%3D1500004925.Mattresses%3EC%24cip%3D1500004927.Double%2Bmattresses.htm
It doesnt arrive until thursday, so il keep you posted on the quality"Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, for it has yet to come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering"0 -
do not get the cheapest ones even if you are only using for small children. Absolutely rubbish. Would seriously consider buying elsewhere where you can try them first0

just got a silent night miracoil ( on offer at the moment), daughter says it is really comfortable.£900 towards next holiday...ta very much Mr T x0

Bought a cloud nine double matress from them for my daughter and she complained from the start. It was really soft and you could feel every spring. Ended up putting a matress topper on it. The difficulty with argos is not getting to try before you buy. I'd always buy from a showroom in future.0

I've been trying to convince people for ages that Argos isn't as cheap for beds and mattresses as many people think. Now I have the proof:j .
Argos sell the Bloomsbury King Size Antique Brass Finish Bedstead for £349.99. We sell the same model under a different name for £178. What you get for your money would also apply to divans and mattresses.
Argos may be cheaper than many high street stores, but compaired to many internet based companies they are still very expensive.
I know that many people are very wary about buying items like beds from ebay. However if you follow a few guidelines then you can save up to 75% on the shop prices:
1) most important of all make sure that the seller gives a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
2) check previous feedback for the seller, and even contact previous customers to ask them about the seller.
3) use a company who display their phone number, so that you can talk to someone about your requirements (they want you to make the righ choice because it will cost them if you return it).
4) check the sellers return policy. Many sellers charge for postage on returns.....can work out very expensive if you have unpacked a vacuum packed mattress, and you don't like it.
5) try to use a seller who delivers using their own transport. Couriers often damage or misplace goods (believe me I know from experience).
Obviously you can't try before you buy, but for the saving it is worth the risk if you follow the guidelines above.

I have one of these :
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6654041.htm
Airsprung Berkley King Size Cushion Top Mattress
Although Argos left me sleeping on the floor for 5 weeks waiting for it to be delivered. Bought as part of a bundle deal with a bedstead. Argos are certainly not the cheapest (i used them because i was bought vouchers to spend), and their delivery times for items not 'in stock' at the time of ordering can be months (as I found out !).
However, the actual mattress is very comfortable and I'm very pleased with it. I've been using it for about a month now.
Hope that helps a bit !0 -
Sorry vtec, but I've been telling people on here for ages not to buy pillow top mattresses because they are probably the biggest sales gimmick in the bed industry at the moment. Believe me, there are quite a few gimmicks.
Pillow top mattress feel really comfortable in the shop, but the fillings tend to move about and become lumpy very quickly. Also having a pillow top makes a mattress non turn. Well I should point out that all mattresses should be turned on a regular basis in order to prevent uneven wear. This especially applies to pocket sprung mattresses. When a manufacturer makes a non-turn mattress they often advertise it as a feature, and say that the mattress has been made in a special way so that it doesn't have to be turned. The truth is that all they are doing by making a mattress non-turn is:
1) making it cheaper to manufacture because the memory foam is the most expensive part of the mattress.
2) making a mattress that won't last as long because you can't turn it over as well as around lengthways
