I've never been a huge fan of social media despite being a bit of a geek.

However, I started using it to keep in touch with my daughter as she lives an hours drive away and prefers it to anything else! Also my son and his wife have a private group set up where they post pictures of my new granddaughter so I use it for that.

I have a small number of friends and my profile is set to private so only they can see me etc.

Everything has been fine for about a year but last week I started getting 'suggested posts' which are basically adverts.

This morning it was for Miller Lite beer! A couple of days ago it was Ford cars. So far I've selected the 'I don't want to see these' option but that only shrinks them down with an undo button and doing it every time one shows up will be a royal pain.

I haven't done anything or changed anything and I'd like to get rid of them again.

This is on my phone, Samsung Galaxy S4, only. If I connect to Faceache from my computer or laptop I don't get them.

I've had a look through the settings but can't see anything but the cynic in me tells me they don't want to make it easy as it means revenue for them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Free services have to be funded somehow and Ads are probably preferable to them selling your details.

If you go to the top right corner of the ad, there's a small grey arrow pointing down. Click on it and it'll give you a list of options, one of which is "I don't want to see this". Click on that and it'll disappear. If you then click on the bar that appears saying "why don't you want to see it", and click on "it's spam", and follow the options, you won't see that ad again.

Do it with all the ads you get.

Agreed but I've been using it for over a year and not had any until last week. It's almost as if something I've been sent a link to or something I've looked at has opened the floodgates.

And the other weirdness is that I'm definitely not seeing them on the laptop or PC.

Where there's an ad on the phone on the computer I just see the post before the ad and the one after, no ads at all. It's very odd as I haven't installed any filter or blocking app on the computers.

    Ho hum.
