Pressure washers?

I'm thinking of buying a pressure washer to clean a fairly large patio and not sure which one to choose. Ex used to buy really expensive Karcher models, they never lasted so I'm thinking of buying a cheapie, £59 Tesco with good reviews, wondering if this is more for car cleaning or would it do a large area of paving?
TIA

I've had a cheapie I got from B&Q for around £35. Never having had a Karcher, i can't compare, but the performance is fine for both my car and patios etc. The only downside is mine says you shouldn't use it with the motor running continuously for more than 10 minutes without then giving it a rest.

It should be ok. Before I moved I had a cheapie I bought from Argos, think it was an RAC brand & cost around £35 when they had it on offer. It did the job perfectly & I got £25 for it when I sold my house & had no more use for a pressure washer!
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

Think I'll bite the bullet then and buy the cheap one.
    Thanks:)

I've been thinking of buying a Karcher myself and John Lewis have them with a 3 year guarantee.

Are they a reliabile make? Any better for the price (around £199 for a K4 Home model)?

I got a Karcher K2 from Amazon for £68, which came with the car cleaning attachments.
It's pretty good (only used it once) but don't think it will clean off muck from your car by itself - you still need to wash the vehicle!

However, worked a treat on the path and gas meter box. I am sure it will work brill on the bins too!

The main reason for pressure washers "not lasting for very long" is down to people storing them in a shed/Garage and the Winter weather freezing temperatures freezing the water inside the washers and splitting the pipes/hoses.

If you buy a pressure washer and intend to store it in a shed you need to buy a heater to keep the temp above freezing.

Heating the shed starts to get a bit expensive though.

So find a place in the house for it?
(I assume) mine has survived this winter but it wasn't exactly really cold.
Will probably bring it in for the winter next year if I remember.

Problem is remembering to bring it in..:D

If they are left in a shed freezing Winter temperatures will freeze the water left in the washer, it then expands and cracks the pipes and seals.

As you say ,if people don't want to keep it in a shed with a oil filled heater etc to keep the temp above freezing the only option is to keep it indoors...

I agree that's the problem but thew solution is simple. rid the thing of water before you store it, failing to do that is the real problem.

I have a Karcher, great model with loads of patio scrubbing and turbo lancing stuff, £50 from ebay from a seller that has them as re furbished

Don't buy a crap cleaner, and above all, don't think you have to heat the shed.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
