Hi,
I was hoping someone could help me. I'm currently self employed, but on a low income (earning about £6,000 PA). My boyfriend recently lost his job due to the firm he was working for closing and is now claiming Jobseekers Allowance. If we were to move in together would he still be entitled to claim?
Thanks in advance for your help

If his JSA is contribution based then he is able to get that for six months. After that it's income based and takes your income and household savings into account/Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Thanks for the reply
I believe he is receiving contribution based at the moment. Hopefully he will have found a job by the 6 month deadline, but if not would this just mean that the amount of his benefit is reduced depending on how much I earn? Would you happen to know how they would access this with me being self-employed and earning a varying amount each month? 0 -

Income based is £112 per week so if you earn more than that he will get nothing. He could still sign on to get his NI credits towards state pension.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Ah right, thanks. It would be tough to manage on that! may have to hold off on moving in together until he finds a new job or business picks up, Silly really when they're paying him housing benefit when he could be living with me!0 -

You may still be able to get HB and hopefully he will get a job before his JSA runs out.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
