As XP is becoming unsupported, will this accept Vista?, it's main use will be the web.

Yes I have the disk as upgraded another PC.

This would be used by an inexperienced user (my great nephew) so would like it to be secure, and simple.

You'll need to increase the RAM, to at least 2GB in my opinion. DDR2-533 SDRAM

    £14.99 here

Why not leave it on XP, just because support is ending doesnt mean that it will suddenly stop working....

I have a 1GB ram, from updating another PC, and it seems this will take 2gb with further investigation. However, does it need to have ram in both slots, and the same amount in each slot for Vista and or XP? I have a niggle in the back of my mind about that, but it could have been previous versions.

    Does this answer your question?

You can try running Vista on 1.5GB with your existing RAM.
