My solution to xp security.

Just want to know if I am right in thinking this will work.
Partition my hard drive currently running xp, install vista on one partition thus making a xp/vista dual boot.

Use vista to go online and keep xp for offline use.
Don't tell me to use win 7 or 8, no cash for that.

could do, but vista's only supported for three years.

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

    I'm going for XP/Ubuntu dual boot. Vista's a crock of ****.

don't go on dubious sites or open dodgy emails and there is never any need for security

    This is, of course, untrue.

Plenty of very reputable websites get hacked and could host malware.

Install VMware Player (free) and then install XP into a VM (Virtual Machine). You will then be able to run XP in a window on your machine.

Your computer CPU needs to support "VT" for it to work.

You will be able to decide whether your XP VM has a network interface.

Yup, that should work. My PC boots XP, Win7 and Arch Linux. :-)
