speedfit lifespan

Had a phone call from wife saying water pouring through ceiling, she turned off water electric tripped and neighbour put a hole in ceiling so ceiling not come down.
When i looked what had happened a 90 elbow speedfit had failed, this elbow has been on for 8 years cant be touched or moved as its behind a boxed in panel. There are 3 more speedfit elbows used at the same time does anyone know how long speedfit elbows last? . I can replace them all with compression fittings as i have with the failed one.

I may not have been installed correctly - I've only ever seen one fail and that was because of flux on the o-ring.
If the fitting has detatched itself from the pipe then I suspect it was incorrect installation.

All the internals were still attatched to the pipe it had just come apart. Looking at it the plastic lip has come off the inside of the part which screws on.

Change them for speedfit - you won't have any issues with them.
