Old Style Daily Thread Friday 14th March
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, very foggy (like pea soup) and looks cold and dreary. Hope the fog will burn off and we get another decent day.

DH and DS1 up and gone to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was roast chicken pieces, new potatoes, veg and gravy, Victoria sponge for dessert, for those that wanted some. Tonight it will be something quick and easy – with chips.

Was reasonably productive yesterday, tackled the ironing, continued washing, and drying, there’s only a small amount left, which may be enough to make up another load. Did the housework and tackled a couple of hotspots that really needed some attention, I’m pleased with how much I’ve got done, there’s still loads to do but just tackling it steadily and just trying to stay focused and not let it overwhelm me so I get in a CBA mood. Just stayed busy and did everything at a steady pace. I feel so much better in myself today – will just continue to potter along. I picked boys up from school/college and then took DS2 to next town to buy some clothes for his trip to Barcelona – was absolutely appalled at 2 of the main big chain stores - 1 said they only now stock boys school trousers everything else you have to order on-line and the other had childrens clothes up to age 12 and again anything else you have to order on-line – absolutely ridiculous, so we then went to the famous cheap store and he tried on mens small short fitting jeans which fit him, so we ended up doing the whole shop in there – I’m sure I spent much less I know you compromise on quality but no-one else had anything to fit him! Did treat myself to some of my make up whilst in next town as it’s not available in any of the shops where I live, but they had a free gift if you spent over a certain amount and I’d got points on my card so had that deducted from bill so actually didn’t part with much cash.

Today I will be heading to town, the bank and then food shopping. I will take DS1 to collect his motorbike after it’s service etc. The boys then have a dentist appointment so will need to take them for that. Will try to do some baking if time allows – but time will be tight.

We’re out all day tomorrow and Sunday doing a promotional stand to do with the caravanning – this is a part I really love doing – so looking forward to it, and the people that are doing the stand with us are staying over at a local site and I’ve booked a table at the local pub for dinner tomorrow night – pub does really good food, so will be nice.
Slept much better again last night although have woken stupid early when DH got up – did go back to sleep for a while but then was awake so have got up.

Have a good Friday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning all
I'm off to work soon, I'm totally confused with hubby's shifts, they seem to be changing daily ATM. I got up thinking he was on earlies but it's days today, so I had a shower & made the lunches & I still have time to post here.
I could hear my exhaust blowing so took it in to be looked at, £60 for a new back box, could be worse, I do have the £60 so it's being repaired today hopefully.
Work continues to be fun, lunch breaks are being altered to ensure isolation for some staff members, hey ho, head down & keep schtum.
DD managed to get a 2nd hand Silver Cross pram for £190, they are often £700 even 2nd hand, when she trained as a nanny they used Silver Cross so she's been hunting for one.
Plans to enable retirement are one step further forwards with a bit more juggling.
My DS got into the fire brigade, it's taken him 2 years as it's not an easy thing to do & one of hubby's nephews & GF bought their first house again not easy as they are bot still in their 20's.
The fish are tapping on the glass so it must be time I fed them.
    Have a god day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

It's still dry here, has been for the last 3 days! I think it is to rain this afternoon but have enjoyed it being dry (and sunny for some of it).
Don't have enough of a load to wash so will wait till tomorrow.

The roof is watertight but there is a 5 week wait for tiles - the storms from the end of last year mean that there is a backlog so will have to wait. Ordered a new bedroom window for DD, seems that now is the best time to do it as they have the dormer stripped and DDs window is past its best.
Came home yesterday and there is now a skip in the front garden, what with that and the scaffolding it looks dreadful!
Had chicken curry for tea which was very tasty, not sure what tonight's delight will be, am having a bit of a CBA time with cooking, I think there's too much else going on.
Managed to sell some furniture yesterday so that's more room in the house. Tonight I need to rub down the window cill in DS2s room and clean up ready for painting.
HH - Congrats to DS. Also pleased to hear DD got a pram, I love to see big prams out and about.
Hugs to those in need, Take care XX

    Morning All :hello:

Sun is shining here :j but of paperwork to do til lunch then need to clean the house and make another sweet tree. Made a marshmallow one yesterday for my brother GF's birthday but just found out she doesn't like marshmallows :( so going to pick some bags of lollipops up from our local 99p store today and quickly make a lolly one - which has been confirmed she likes lollipops. Luckily the mallow one won't go to waste as my grandma loves them and she is 71 on Monday so will take it for her :) just a bit of a faff and an extra £5 I hadn't planned to spend.

Got a big stack of ironing to do today also and really need to go for a run as I didn't get chance yesterday. I am running the race for life again this year and hoping to run it all again and beat last years time whilst raising lots of money for a fab cause!!!!!

Just eaten breakfast, porridge made on the hob instead of microwave, and it tasted beautiful :)
Right time to get on with some jobs. Have a lovely day everyone, hope it brightens up if the sun hasn't fully reached you yet and HAPPY FRIDAY :j
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

    Morning all,
Fog here, but sun's out so hope it burns off. OH just gone out to work. First load of washing done, towels now in.

Had a bone scan yesterday, organised by Kings College, but done in a private clinic at Eastbourne. Bone density fine and no osteoporosis:T

Got an approved foods order coming today. Mainly cat food as they had a deal on whiskas and kitekat.

My washing line broke two days ago. It's a brabantia one that folds back into the wall. Emailed Amazon where I bought it two years ago as it has a five year warrenty. Within two hours they emailed me back saying they would be sending me a new one, and for the inconvenience it would be sent express. It's due today. Now that's what I call customer service!:T

Pies from the local butcher for dinner, got to go to the supermarket though for fridge stuff.

(((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) if you nees them Julie Hope you are feeling better.

    Have a good day.

    Happy Birthday Bitsy Beans!

    Hi everyone,

MIA yesterday, we had to go over to mum's and swear the probate oath. While there I dug up a couple of clumps of her snowdrops to plant here and give to DS and GF. We also collected some logs for our woodburning stoves so our store is nearly full again.

Sis-in-law was supposed to be coming over for the weekend but she isn't well so might not make it. I hope she does, we need help eating the cake I've made.

Not a lot else to report so I'll go now.

    Have a good day.

I'm also a lover of the big Silver cross, my babies were all so comfortable in ours:D
My youngest has asked us to pick him up some ingredients tonight. His gf who doesn't have much money being at college and working at McD's is cooking him a romantic meal. His Xmas present was lots of IOU's and this is one of them, they are very cute
Hubby and I are out for a meal tonight with our best friends, Col is 53 today and then my hubby and Di are 53 within two days of each other in June. I'm the baby of the group at 47:)
Desperately need an Aldi visit this afternoon. I'm going to wear black trousers tonight and a cream blouse , I have black boots with a tiny wedge which I'm going to try and manage in.
I'm joining WW next week as I will be mobile in my new car. I can't believe its March already, where has the year gone?
Anyway I'm off to do some washing and make the most of this fabulous sunshine. Have a lovely day, hugs where needed x

  • Morning.
    Not been around much.
Noah has started his CBT so hopefully will see results after a while.... Battle still going with LEA. Am helping sister I'm law request statement for my niece who has ADHD and is struggling. Noah got his at 2 at diagnosis but they make it more difficult these days.
Asher climbing and into everything.. Eyes in this back of head time😳.
Still not sleeping much but hey ho.

Tea tonight.. Steak as it's mans valentines day today aka steak and BJ day😉.
DH has unexpected day off so nice to have a day together in the week.

Hester I have a Silver Cross too as I wanted a proper lie down pram. I hate seeing newborns squashed into sitting up positions in those car seat on wheels contraptions.
sistercas are you walking up in my village around Damflask or nearer you at Rivelin( cakes at Rivelin cafe?)
Right off for a tea and clear up the nappies Asher has scattered out of my change bag aaaaargh
