.. it's truly sad, but true .. and I quote :

"The minister for disabled people, Mike Penning, has apologised "unreservedly" to the family of Sheila Holt after she was sent letters demanding she make an effort to find work even though she was in a coma."

And it's not yet the first of April !

Dont you mean the family were upset by the letters?
Being in a coma kinda negates external pressures.

Was the DWP actually aware she was in a coma?

Your lack of links/facts seems one sided and rather sloppy. A little like reading the Sun and/or Daily Mail

Oh don't ruin the moral outrage this is supposed to provoke by asking sensible questions. Next we'll be getting stories about dead people who were told they've been shirking.

Odds on it on the front page of the Mirror...

Sorry i come across as a bit thick Tom and do not comply with ur posting standards and protocols. I am truly embarrassed.

Search on google and it made a well publicised news story on the broadsheets that us thickos read.

The letter came from ATOS not the DWP..asking her WHY she wasn't working, not pressurising her to work.. I have no idea how this became a story worthy of being printed in a national newspaper as the letter was sent less than a month after she fell into a coma and no mention of when or even if family informed any benefit department she was in a coma..
The lady was sectioned, had a heart attack then fell into a coma and recieved a letter from ATOS all in the space of a month.. When were ATOS or the DWP informed.

These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

Not to mention that these things tend to be standard computer generated letters issued as a result of certain triggers, like a date.

A bit like a reminder going out after a specified period for an unpaid bill.
