Disabled lady on benefits AND in a coma pressurised by DWP to find work !!

.. it's truly sad, but true .. and I quote :
"The minister for disabled people, Mike Penning, has apologised "unreservedly" to the family of Sheila Holt after she was sent letters demanding she make an effort to find work even though she was in a coma."
And it's not yet the first of April !

Do you have anything that's more recent? this story first emerged in January.0

Dont you mean the family were upset by the letters?
Being in a coma kinda negates external pressures.0 -
Was the DWP actually aware she was in a coma?
Your lack of links/facts seems one sided and rather sloppy. A little like reading the Sun and/or Daily Mail0 -
A mistake was made and an apology given - non story.0

Oh don't ruin the moral outrage this is supposed to provoke by asking sensible questions. Next we'll be getting stories about dead people who were told they've been shirking. Was the DWP actually aware she was in a coma?
Odds on it on the front page of the Mirror...Your lack of links/facts seems one sided and rather sloppy. A little like reading the Sun and/or Daily Mail0 -

Sorry i come across as a bit thick Tom and do not comply with ur posting standards and protocols. I am truly embarrassed.
Search on google and it made a well publicised news story on the broadsheets that us thickos read.0 -
The letter came from ATOS not the DWP..asking her WHY she wasn't working, not pressurising her to work.. I have no idea how this became a story worthy of being printed in a national newspaper as the letter was sent less than a month after she fell into a coma and no mention of when or even if family informed any benefit department she was in a coma..
The lady was sectioned, had a heart attack then fell into a coma and recieved a letter from ATOS all in the space of a month.. When were ATOS or the DWP informed.0 -

Which broadsheet? Link?0 -
Most Benefit Offices are supposed to use telepathy to know what the claimants circumstances are...These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.0

Not to mention that these things tend to be standard computer generated letters issued as a result of certain triggers, like a date. The letter came from ATOS not the DWP..asking her WHY she wasn't working, not pressurising her to work..
A bit like a reminder going out after a specified period for an unpaid bill.0
