Catapult, your portfolio is getting a bit of a pasting but I think you knew that it would. I'm not sure I would be so courageous to post mine to public scrutiny
Here's a question for you
Would you be happy with the same choices in 10 years time?0 -

Momentum and other research will likely mean rebalancing / amending fund selections to try and maximise return. So the choices will probably look different in 10 years time. Will need to include exposure to EM and Asia in due course and yet to include USA, so portfolio will probably evolve over 10 years.0 -
Agree with Azza. You only need one fund per sector if you are investing 8X£5K and should have a much broader range of sectors. Also agree with the queries on Acc and Inc funds.
Your choice of funds seems perverse with frequent use of the more obscure fund managers. There are better known funds in their respective sectors than those offered by Ignis, Pictet, Premier, River & Mercantile.
Going for an Ethical fund as 1 out of 8 seems most odd. If you believe in Ethical funds you surely would want to go 100% that way and probably suffer a lower return. If you dont believe in them dont use them.
i'm not sure that 'better known' is something that we ought to push towards.0 -
Agreed, it does seem strange unless it is done as a way of getting "green" exposure but I'd think Jupiter Ecology would be more specific for that. On it's own it's like having vegetarian gravy on your steak!
agreed all round, and good analogy:D. i assumed that it was an intended 'exposure' rather than an investment decision based around Catapult's ethical stance.0 -
you don't Have To get exposure to particular markets, even the US. i tend to think that in some ways FTSE100 companies are 'similar' to US equivalents, and they are here, with easy access. and balancing with markets which are higher risk but higher growth compliment the UK well.0
