I bought a packet of frozen quorn fillets on a whim. Now I have no idea what to do with them or what to serve alongside them.
Any ideas please?
I've got onions, carrots, sweet pots, plain pots every spice you can shake etc etc. just stuck for a meal idea. The thought of just grilling them and serving with spuds does not really appeal.

My lovely MIL fries them up and serves them with roast potatoes, gravy, stuffing, and a selection of vegetables. Do you have any of those things? Or just the things you mentioned in your post?0

Thanks, yes I have all that , well not the stuffing but it could be made.
I'm not short of ingredients , well stocked larder etc , I'm just stuck for a tasty idea. I think something where it is mixed into a "wet" dish might be best, OH may not notice then! Well, I don't know, I've never tried Q fillets before, only the mince.Norn Iron Club member 4730 -
Quite off topic but if you have any nut cutlets on hand, they can be crumbled into a 'wet dish' for an alternative to veggie mince.0

any recipe that calls for chicken breast can be used. I make a really nice orange, spicy sauce that goes really well with Quorn fillets. The recipe was actually for pork chops, but I just sub the fillets for the chops. Let me know if you're interested in it.0

we use Quorn chicken (both fillets and pieces) quite a lot.....have ), used them in stir-fries (cooked and then chopped into pieces), curries, pasta sauces...like someone else said, any recipe that calls for chicken....I find they can dry out, so generally use them in sauce based dishes.0

I serve them with a selection of roasted root veg (pots, carrots, parsnips) and a white wine sauce - I melt butter in a pan, add a little salt, pepper and mixed herbs, stir in plain flour, and stir in enough wine to get the desired consistency, over a low heat. It's one of Mr LW's favourite meals.:o
Gigervamp I'd love your orange spicy sauce recipe if you'd be so kind as to post it, pretty please.:oIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
Spicy Orange Quorn fillets.
1 Tbsp olive oil
3 Tbsp cornflour
375ml stock
Juice of 1 orange
125ml brown sugar*
60ml cider vinegar
1 Tbsp worcestershire sauce/ veggie equivalent
Salt and Pepper
Quorn fillets/chicken breasts/pork chops**
* The recipe is American and uses cup measurements. I measure out the sugar in my measuring cups.
**When I've made this, I do 2 pans, one with 2 Quorn fillets, the other with 2 pork chops.
Heat the oil and brown fillets on both sides.
Mix the stock and cornflour until smooth.
Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
If using meat, drain the fat.
Pour the sauce over the fillets/meat, cover and simmer for about 30 minutes or until done.
Sweet potato wedges go really well with this.0 -
My personal opinion is that they're a lot better in a sauce or gravy than "naked" as I find them a little dry otherwise. On the up

As above, if you just grilled them in a dry rub or without a sauce they'll likely be dry and a bit bland. A wet saucy dish, or using them in something like a stir fry would taste much better.0

Just to add, I eat a lot of quorn fillets and when I don't want them with a sauce, I bake them in the oven wrapped in tin foil for 20 mins. The get cooked and stay nice and moist.
Then I slice them up and have them on a sandwich with lettuce, tomato, and a ton of mayo.
Nom!!!If you know you have enough, you're rich.0
