New House Appliances

I bought a new build house about 18 months ago. The kitchen appliances were all included. The hob had a hood with an integrated fan. The fan has only been used about a dozen times. Last night the fan stopped working. The appliances all had a years warranty, which have since expired. I want to know should I be contacting the company I bought the house from regarding this because despite the warranty having expired I think that the hood should be lasting longer than 18 months or should I be contacting the manufacturer?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Do you mean the developer installed the cheapest crap he could find? Shocking.
If it is out of warranty there is nothing you can do, really apart from having it repaired or buying a new one.0 -
I contacted the developer when our oven went after 18 months, but was out of warranty, they initially fobbed us off, but did repace it after a bit of to ing and fro ing.
Id start with them , you never know?

Contact the developer and give them grief - and a lot of it if necessary.
Nevermind the warranty, chances are the developer uses the same supplier for all new builds/installs. Get the developer behind you and they should be able to sort without too much bother.0 -

Not helpful.
Expensive crap can go wrong too.
Have you ever bought a new build fully equipped with appliances before?
If you answer 'no' to this, then why are you posting?
If 'yes', then still not helpful.0 -
Hmm.. The only hope as I see it is the guilty consciousness and mercy of the manufacturer or contractor, which... I fear won't get you anywhere but back at the drawing board.
If I were you, I'd let it go and save myself the stress of arguing with people having no interest of helping you...
Seems like you just god unlucky, but sometimes s@#$ just happens. Better move on now..With Regards,

That's much more than a certain someone.

You might have recourse with the developer. Barratt's, when negotiating with them, were reluctant to include white goods as they would then fall under their 5 year warrantee on their properties. Guessing it will be the same with other developers, so you should be covered for at least 2 years.0

Read the model and maker and find them on Google!
Give them and call and ask if they can fix or replace under warranty.
Have a look on youtude to see if common fault or easy fix yourself0
