When you get your salad spinner, try to find one with holes in the bottom of the outer bowl, so that you can rinse your leaves etc. in the inner colander under the tap, without having to keep emptying the thing.

We use the tea towel method - both children usually fight over who gets to do it. For safetys sake - having also had my lettuce end up next door! I use a 'clipit' to clip the towel together before handing to the children!"A simple life freely chosen is a source of strength. Sainsburys are doing one for £1.99 with holes in the bottom, so as Bogof babe said you can wash it in the spinner - it's a bit garish - blue and white plastic - but at that price. With the holes, you need to remember to spin over the sink - guess who didn't the first time!“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

A little tip for those of you who don't use the whole bag of salad; put a piece of kitchen roll in the bag before you seal it with a peg or something. The kitchen roll absorbs any condensation thus alleviating the problem of soggy lettuce leaves the following day.0

Thanks, I'll give that a try.
One thing I have discovered, is that Co-op own brand pre-packed salads seem to last significantly longer than those purchased from other supermarkets (I've been known to open one, and still be eating it 4 or 5 days later).Stompa0
