We sold our 'spare' car by We Buy Any Car earlier this year.
It was a very easy experience, and saved all the hassle of advertising it, waiting for people to turn up and view it, deal with people who wanted to haggle, and then making sure we got paid in a scam proof way.
We got a decent price for the car as wellEarly retired - 18th December 2014

the bathroom is almost finished, it's so exciting! Most people who've seen it don't like it but we love it
We also have the tiles for the kitchen and the hallway.... it's all coming together, it's very exciting!
LOTS of spending though, I am keeping track on my spreadsheet but trying not to think about it too much!0 -
Hallway now has lovely marble tiles instead of cheap carpet, kitchen is halfway tiled in place of cheap lino. Very exciting!
Debt is sub 2k now, really feel like the end is in sight.
Am cautiously hopeful about something at work...I get a car allowance atm but car must meet certain criteria. One of those is that it m u st be less than 6 years old, my car is 6 in March so I've been thinking I'd have to get a loan and start my debt all over again. But, I've been told I'm in consideration to be swapped to a company car instead.....I need to research it a little more but I think it'll be a better offer for me - insurance, maintenance, tax etc all paid for and sorted by work. Have asked for some clarification from HR, fingers crossed it works out.0 -
I can't decide what to do with my remortgage.
Notionwide only value the house at £125k, making us in the over 75% ltv bracket. Existing lender Notwest just use HPI so have us at £131k, making us under 75%.
NWIDE: 2.59% 4yr fix £999 fee TOTAL OVER REMAINING TERM: £144826
NWEST: 2.88% 5yr fix £995 fee TOTAL OVER REMAINING TERM: £145104
That works out £278 more expensive to stay with my existing lender over the term (23 years), or £1 per month.
I'm actually leaning towards it though because:
1) I have to get my ID verified by a solicitor, that means £20 cost plus booking an appointment, attending the appointment, massive case of can't-be-bothered-itis
2) I can just switch online no probs
3) OPs and ERCs are the same on both offers
4) Longer fixed rate with Nwest. (Nwide is 2.84% for 5 yr)
Am I just being lazy, is it worth switching to Nwide? Am I getting my money's worth for my £1 per month saved? If I stay with Nwest I'll offset it by OPing an extra £1 a month from my own personal spends :rotfl:0 -
Well, I guess really it depends if there is a massive difference on the rate after the fixed period 'just in case' you can't switch later.
If you will be looking again in 5 years you are only really paying £60 difference versus saving possibly £20 + cost of faff time time.
I know what I would choose based on the info you provided but I do prefer the route of least resistance0 -
SVRs are 3.99 and 4.0 so not much in it.
You're right to split it in to the fixed rate time actually, as I have no intention of letting it run the normal term0
