Contents Insurance

Hi,
I am renting my flat privately and I've got 2 questions.
Firstly, I've got really great Contents Insurance with Nationwide to cover all my possessions, but I would also like cover for my Landlords fixtures and fittings (I've got pets!!). As Nationwide don't cover Landlords F&F am I allowed to take out another contents insurance policy that does cover LL's F&F but it also comes with some cover that is similar to Nationwide's?? I would never claim for the same thing on both Insurances, but I wonder how 2 insurance policies stands legally. (N.B the other Insurance doesn't offer as much cover for my possessions as the Nationwide one)
Secondly, How soon can you claim on a Content's Insurance Policy? My pet policy states not within the first 10 days, but I cannot find anything online that indicates how long you have to wait with Contents Insurance. I like to know when I can relax a bit knowing I'm covered!
Thanks for your help

You can have as many policies as you want, though its rarely economical to have more than one.
In the event of any claim you should ensure that the insurers know about each other and if they do they'll most likely average the claim out across themselves for those that do provide cover for the loss.
Cover for Contents is normal instant however inevitably if you buy the insurance today and then phone this afternoon to say you've just knocked over your £8,000 4k OLED TV then they are going to look very closely to make sure you arent being fraudulent0 -
Damage caused by pets may not be covered on many policies even if you have b and c cover.
Have a look at the personal liability cover provided on your policy as it may cover you anyway
Fixtures and fittings are normally part of the buildings so you only need to worry about contrntsa0
