Help please Nationwide refusing chargeback/Simply Electronics

Apologies is this is not in the correct forum. I really need some help am at the end of my tether.

I placed an order with Simply Electronics for a Blue Yeti mike for £99.75 on 10/01/14 with my Nationwide visa debit card. Minutes and I mean minutes later I cancelled said order as it became apparent the company was not based in the UK and delivery would not arrive in time.

I emailed Simply Electronics confirming the cancellation and they kept sending emails back trying to change my mind.

Every time I emailed I reiterated that I was cancelling my order, they stated they would pass the cancellation on to relevant dept.

Then out the blue I received an email from Simply Electronics confirming depatch. What! Kept emailing Simply Electronics stating I had cancelled, when delivery arrived I refused to accept and package was returned.

I kept emailing Simply Elec for refund, haven't given one to date. They keep lying saying it's underway and nothing has happened so this is where it gets more interesting have been trying to claim chargeback from Nationwide who have been extremely unhelpful.

They are refusing to chargeback due to various reasons I have received from them: because item was delivered and I refused and because they are stating Simply Elec is a UK based company.

I have sent Nationwide all the proof of transaction, emails cancelling, proof goods have been received back by Simply Electronics yet still they won't help and today I received a final response letter by Nationwide stating this is their posistion.

So basically I've been ripped off and Nationwide are refusing to help me recover the money.

Argh, someone help please and apologies for the epic post.

I had a similiar issue with goods purchased in August - failed to arrive, and the promised refund after a Cancellation request never arrived.

I had to also do a Chargeback from my Credit Card (CapitalOne) which went very smoothly.

I'm surpised Nationwide are refusing to help, as you should still have some protection via your VISA Nationwide Debit Card?

It seems like a Chargeback is the only way to actually get a refund from SimplyElectronics!

Nationwide are just completely refusing to help. I should be covered under chargeback they are stating I'm not due to them being a UK based company and because goods were delivered, but I refused them (as I cancelled order which I confirmed, numerous times).

What difference that makes I don't know?

Simply Electronics are not a UK based company, so I can't understand what Nationwide are on about.

I think you may be on dodgy ground for a chargeback if you refused the goods, but I can't see how where they are located (or pretend to be located) comes into it.

    Hi Guys

What a difference a few days make. Would you believe it? Simply Electronics have refunded the money finally.

Nationwide were finally getting around to pulling their finger out somewhat, but they have been next to useless and I'm still not happy with the lack of service I received.

The lesson learnt from this is to anyone out there, NEVER EVER use Simply Electronics and also think twice before using a Nationwide debit card whilst purchasing from a UK company, as according to them they will not do chargeback.
