For the past few days I have had a message coming on from Avast saying that there is a Trojan Horse trying to get onto the system but don't worry, press this butoon and the horse will be put in the chest. Well it is kicking hell out of the stable door and won't go in quietly! I am not techie at all so can you send any help in plaind and very simple terms please. I know that the nast little blighter is in WIN32:Small-EPJ [TRJ]. I can get onto the internet but there is no address bar showing. I have managed to get onto the Microsoft site and have tried to download the malicious something removal tool but only get as far as the little download box. There is nothing there to 'run' the programme. I have come into work today and have downloaded this Microsot malicious something remover onto a CD and am hoping that this will do something. BUT I would be extremeley grateful if any of you experts can offer some other advice before I kick the horse up the @@@e!! By the way I have tried to carry out the steps in the sticky!!
Thanks

Have you tried a scan in safe mode?
If this in in temp internet files, try cleaning your cache, either in IE or using www.ccleaner.com
in safe mode, start, run, msconfig, startup,, is there a reference to
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\startdrv.exe
if so untick it, and then
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=TROJ%5FAGENT%2EQET&VSect=Sn
Failing that, see the malware sticky thread, for further options.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
You say you have 'tried' to do all the things listed in the sticky. The first 4 posts I think are the ones to go through and you should complete each one. If the pc won't get on the net for the progs you need they could hopefully be downloaded by a friend and put on to a memory stick.
Have you done a scan in safe mode - press f8 on boot up.
Back up your documents and files !Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0
