Labour Cost - Extension

I received a quote for our new extension (6x5.8). We requested the quote to be detailed and must have labour and materials cost separately defined.
While we cannot negotiate on the material price we could review the labour cost.
The quote estimate 4 people working on the above project for the duration of 12 weeks, and the estimated cost is £16,500. Does the duration and cost this fall in line with the norm?
Please note above is pure labour/tradesman cost and excludes everything else.
Thanks in advance

A quick calculation gives me £69 per man per day. Not much more than the minimum wage. So probably not a bad quote, if there's 4 men working 5 days a week for 12 weeks?Slimming world new starter 2/1/17
:D:DWeight loss so far 5 stone 8 lbs
:rotfl:Loss needed to get to target NONE!!! TARGET MEMBER0 -
You wouldn't have got that from me, you would have got a total cost for the job, why did you even need that info ? You can't do anything about reducing the materials costs but are quite happy to screw the labour force out of a living wageI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -

I've just done a full refurb. Lots of trades and all but one quoted for labour and materials separately, as requested. No adding another 50% profit on the materials. At least if I know they're charging £300 a day I can make sure I get my moneys worth.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
I'm used to employing people who either give me a price for the job with materials sourced & charged at cost or they have a day rate & again the materials are sourced & charged at cost with all receipts voluntarily supplied by tradesman. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
£69 a day each is a bargain imoHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Why should any tradesmen supply at cost? wasting their time sourcing and collecting materials for no profit? And expecting them to take responsibility for any defects.
I supply at cost and add 6%- 10%, and take responsibility.0 -

You should be ashamed paying that rate,
TBH what sort of cowboy or monkey are you gonna get for £8.25 p/h ?? You will find out when you get a sub-standard over run job. Then come on hear moaning you have been ripped off !!!!0 -

It says 4 people - not tradesmen. Likely hood is that the monkey grinders will be on a lot more and the monkeys a lot less.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

So how many tradesmen are on the job? and how many monkeys?
Is it just 1 tradesman ? doing the groundwork, brickwork, roof, electrics, plumbing, plastering etc.
Well as a human being i would always try and pay a person a living wage, that way they can and do pay their taxes instead of doing work on the black market.0 -

I get my discount then add 20% so the customer gets it cheaper anyway, I make a profit to ALLOW me to run my business,
unfortunately alot on here expect the trade to run around pricing the job, then go & get the materials for them & not charge any extra or make a profit & still expect them to fix any problems focI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
