URGENT- answer needed by twelve today please.

I've got a friend coming at twelve today to use my computer to help her change energy suppliers.

My question is she is on a prepayment meter for electric and wants to change to a normal meter. Is this possible using the comparison sites or does she need to change to a normal meter within her own company first and then switch??

Many thanks everyone :j

Meter swaps are not something the comparison sites have anything to do with.

There isn't that much competition on PPM tariffs, for average consumption expect no more than a £50-100 a year difference between the most expensive and cheapest tariff.

To have the meter removed, she'll have to ask her supplier. Either the one now, or the one she wants to move to. Bear in mind this is charged by most (approx. £50), although BG and edf will do it for free. Suppliers will also credit check.

To have the most accurate comparison, use annual consumption in KWh, this is what energy is measured in not £'s and pence.

If using comp sites. you'll be restricted to comparing Standard tariffs only, which is what PPM's charge at. With a PPM you have no access to online discount tariffs.
Factor in the one-off meter cost change, or find a supplier who will offer a free meter change in return for signing up.
Bear in mind that a credit meter account may require your friend to pass a credit check.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
