SLC sold my student loan to Erudio with ONE payment remaining!

I received an email response to the email I sent to Erudio trying to get confirmation that I have made my last payment. I haven't received anything in the mail about the account being sold or anything else. The email stated -
"Thank you for your email dated the 13th March 2014.
i can confirm that your final payment was taken by direct debit on the 17th March 2014.
Please note that we would not collect any further payments once a loan has been paid in full, however for your own peace of mind you may cancel your direct debit with your bank."
So we'll see how it goes! I'm hoping for a hard copy of this in the mail at some point. Hopefully they're not as hopeless as SLC but I'm not holding my breath.Saving hard for Financial Independence0 -

I'm going to disagree with this. Proof of Posting is free from the Post Office. They will probably deny deferment or denying receiving it
Possibly but Royal Mail has a habit of not bothering to get a signature on delivery - so they have evidence that it was NOT delivered.
On the other hand if you have proof of posting first class it is deemed to have arrived two working days later.
Erudio's complaints procedure is here.
If you look you will see that they talk about being an "eligible complainant" and that if you are not then you cannot go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.
The rules about this are quite complex but it is likely that anything Erudio has done wrong DOES fall within FOS jurisdiction - and in the end the decision about whether it does or not can only be definitively decided by an Ombudsman (not merely an "adjudicator").
If you are dissatisfied with Erudio then go for it.
and try to charge arrears etc. ignore all this but make sure you keep the three payslips with evidence of sending them.
Ignore all correspondence from them and just say take me to court then which they will never do because if you do you can prove you are under the threshold.
I think this is the start of a huge miss-selling scandal as these loans where sold on a different basis to other loans. The reason there isn't so much fuss is there are few of us pre 1998's left who for whatever reason earn below the threshold. Just wait until the more recent loans are privatised and then the "I was told the student loan is not really a loan" speech will really hit the headlines.[/QUOTE]0 -
You say my loans should have been written off when I was 50. I am 58 in September, not in any work (due to ill health), living off my wife's pension, and my private pension of £37 a month, we do not have any benefits at all. I wrote to erudio in February telling them I would be deferring payments this year, and to send any paperwork to our holiday home in France. They did not and then started to empty my meagre bank account. My bank took it back from them, and I wrote to them with exactly what I thought of them, Not a peep from them since, and My Direct Debit is now cancelled by me.
I suggest everyone cancels their Direct Debit with erudio.0
