Gas hob

I have had a new gas hob fitted and the flame is too high on all the burners. When boiling anything after it has come to a boil if I turn it down to the lowest flame the pan boils over. Cooking pasta I have to leave the saucepan lid off or otherwise it just creates a mess. Any ideas anyone?

get your installer back it might have the wrong jets in it, are you sure it's a NG hob & not an LPG one, check what the data plate saysI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

just because you don't have lpg doesn't mean the hob isn't they have been known to be mixed up, the data plate should tell you, but a working pressure test at the meter would be a good startI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

No need for a lid when cooking pasta.
The installer should have done a pressure test after it was fitted to ensure the pressure was regulated correctly for the appliance.
If the pressure is OK use a smaller burner.0 -
I don't like not using lids And I have obviously tried all the burners. I will wait to have the pressure tested on Monday as a first step. It is factory set for natural gas and needs extra parts to convert to LPG. Thanksyesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift thats why its called the present

If the hob was LPG then the jets would be smaller causing a smaller flame.southcoastrgi wrote: »just because you don't have lpg doesn't mean the hob isn't they have been known to be mixed up, the data plate should tell you, but a working pressure test at the meter would be a good start
OP the taps on hobs are adjustable, if the pressure is correct then the by-pass rate will need adjusting by the fitter or manufacturer.0 -
They are coming to sort it out thank you the pressure from the meter was fine.yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift thats why its called the present

In the meantime, put a wooden spoon across the top of the pan, nothing will boil over. It sounds mad, but it works.Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
