THE WEEK FROM HELL - Please advise
Last Tuesday we bought and paid out right for a second hand car from a national car dealer. We were due to pick up the car on Monday but we got a call first thing on Friday to say that one of their lorries had reversed into the car and damaged it badly. If we accepted repairs it was going to take up to two weeks to fix. We declined and insisted on a new car. We stood our ground and got a better car for the same money. We picked this car up yesterday but had to take it back today as they were still to change a tyre on the advice of the MOT. We went to pick it up today, only to find out that somebody had bashed into this car, denting it and scratching it badly. Is this a joke,,,I wish it was! I have a meeting tomorrow morning with the big boss. What should i demand! i am not happy

Calmly explain how you have been inconvenienced with the extra journeys. No car when you thought you had one. Problems with transferring insurance etc. Then ask them how they intend to keep you as a happy customer.
Put the ball in their court and see what they have to offer.0 -
Well what do you want... a refund or a new car? Then ask for that!
Did they agree to do the tyre pre-sale? If not, then the garage don't seem that bad. Although more than likely they are having a worse week than you0 -
Is the repair going to make the car worth less?
If it's not and you are happy with the car then I'd ask for a courtesy car while it was repaired and just get on with my life0 -

I dont get why you deserve anything extra? Surely as long as they repair your car and give you a courtesy car/hire car to use until yours is repaired it's no problem?
I'm pretty sure they didnt damage your car on purpose, accidents happen, and as long as you arent out of pocket from it there's no issue for you. You've already had a better car out of them for the money you originally paid!0 -
accidents happen
Not any more they don't - there must ALWAYS be someone to blame and 'compensation' to be made from it!:(0 -

In most cases, there is no such thing as an accident, there is misplaced optimism, !!!! poor planning, inexperience, inattentiveness or negligence.
I have had 4 accidents, 2 my fault, and 2 the fault of others.
All were caused by one or more of these.0 -

What I mean by "accidents happen" is that incidents, whether caused by bad planning, inexperience, inattentiveness or negligence are either accidental or deliberate?
Although insurance companies assign fault, out of your 4 accidents, how many were deliberate?
I've had 3 in my life, 2 "my fault" and 1 "the fault" of the 3rd party. in each case there was no intent, no deliberation.
Therefore I stand by what i said, accidents happen. Why must we constantly need someone to blame and need someone to demand something from?0 -

Were they caused by deliberate, pre planned actions? If not, then they were accidents.
If something happens unintentionally then by definition it is an accident.0
