Negotiating a removal of default

Options
I've read about this, is this possible on old defaults around 3 or 4 years old or just new ones? Is there any letter template? Will debt collection agencies remove defaults? My main debt collector is Lowell.

If you've defaulted why do you think you'll be able to negotiate ? What reasons will you give ?

It's possible but most people don't have any luck getting them removed, especially if they're valid.

Lowell especially are unlikely to entertain the idea. They're one of the worst DCAs from what I've read.

To be honest i'm just seeing if i can get lucky and have them drop off now rather than waiting another 2 years. Although i do understand i have no right as it was my fault.

Thank you i will try my luck.

I have these defaults on my file:

    Lowell - £635
    Lowell - £345
    Lowell - £466
    Lowell - £145
Cabot Financial (Uk) LTD - £1,559

I can clear most off next month apart from the Cabot one which i'll pay off monthly until i've saved enough to make them a respectable offer.

Would around a 50% offer be good enough to settle it? I've already received an email from one of Lowell's 3rd parties offering me to settle the £466 default for £233.

Come to a point now that Lowell have stopped sending letters for the £145 and £345 debt.

I sent Lowell a F&F letter about 3 weeks ago finally got a reply back from them contradicting themselves but essentially did refuse my offer of £30 to settle a £50 debt but did say they would accept £43.

If you're going to have even a slight chance at getting the defaults removed, you should offer to pay the full amount.

If you're wanting a discount on the debts there's no incentive for them to remove the defaults.
