in Credit cards
Hi everyone im new to here and need advice!!! I have an old capital one credit card which is affecting my credit rating and me getting a mortgage - ive gotten married snd moved addresd and no longer have the card. On my credit repiet its stating the balance is £350 but I only had £100 limit which was all I used so thd £250 is all charges!!!! Do I have to pay these or can I ask for a reduced amount/settlement to get rid of it??? Thanks

You can ask for a full and final settlement figure. They don't have to accept your offer though. It will mean your credit file may only show as partially satisfied (or settled, I can never remember which is which), but your credit file is already damaged by the default anyway.
If you are looking to get a mortgage I would pay the full balance.0 -
Even with a settled default getting a decent mortgage can be a problem for several years ahead.
"Getting rid of it" is not an option.0
