Advice please re airport transfers sicily

Hi, we are going to Sicily for a holiday and wondered if any of you have used buses (if there are any from the airport?) to travel from the airport at Catania to Taormina? The taxis and private transfers seem very expensive so we were thinking of travelling by bus but finding it difficult to find much info.

Have you looked into tourist shuttle buses such as the ones at the links below. They're normally the best compromise:

This link should show all the local bus/coaches to various destinations.
I got married out there in 2011 and my mates from UK travelled to Catania in the main part and got the coach across the island to where I was - they found it very straightforward to do.
I get the feeling Catania airport is a bit more geared up for this than Palermo (I've only flown to Palermo before - several times) as it's more touristy so it should be easy however nothing Sicilian is ever really easy!

We did it by train to Giardini Naxos but that was from the centre of Catania rather than the airport.
