My son's bedroom is tiny. It has a cupboard making up part of it, but the bottom of the cupboard starts at knee height as it forms part of over the stairs below that. He then has his bed wedged into the space between the cupboard and the far wall - this is a standard single divan-style bed with no headboard (no room for a headboard, or a bed with wooden legs or whatever, thanks to the builder positioning a radiator badly. The rest of his room is the same width as the single bed.
  • If a single bed touches 3 walls then it's small.
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • Small ones are best I think , or grandchildren will spend their time in their rooms, looking at the details of the house one bedroom is 9ft 7 x 7ft 6 She will get a small single bed there is a built in wardrobe in there. Do you think it is to small

It depends where you are buying, how many other bedrooms there are, whether the living areas make up for the size of the bedrooms.

I live in a newish 3 bedroom house and all the bedrooms are much smaller than I would like - the largest is only 10'1 x 8'9, but the house is detached, has an ensuite and the downstairs is larger than most 3 bed houses around here, so I am prepared to put up with small bedrooms.

I know a lot of people wouldn't want such small bedrooms, so it will be harder to sell than a 3 bed with larger bedrooms.

My smallest bedroom is 7'6 x 5'11. We use it as an office, don't know if it will fit a single bed.
