How long for MOT to show on DVLA records

Hello,
I bought a new car 3 years ago and it will now need an MOT before I tax it on May 1st this year.
I normally re-tax on-line about 10 days before it's due (say 21st April ) but I am wondering how far in advance of this I should have the MOT done in order that the DVLA database will be updated before I apply for the tax disc.
Would appreciate any info on this.

Less than an hour. I bought a car earlier this year and had to wait for its MOT to be done before collecting it. The dealer rang me to tell me it had been done and very shortly afterwards it was showing on the DVLA website and I was able to tax it.

    Ditto.

Done at kwik fit and able to do as soon as I got home.

Technology working properly for once :)

So much less hassle than having to go to a PO.

I would still get the MOT done at the earliest possible date so any problems can be resolved under the 3 years manufacturer warranty

I was able to renew the tax today straight after driving home from the garage - maybe 30 minutes.

You can have the car MOT,d up to a month before the Due date

so if your car was registered on the 1st April then you can get the MOT carried out any time after the 1st March and ask the tester to maintain the MOT anniversary of the 1st April

so basically you can have up 13 months on an mot certificate

My MOT is due on 21st march and the car was MOT,d on 27th February and the new MOT runs out 21st march 2015
