Travel Insurance - Cancelling Trip Due to Health

Hi I just need some advice.
I am due to travel to Asia on holiday in over 2 weeks time but for the past 4 weeks I have had Bronchitis. My GP has given me antibiotics and other medications and I'm still not not getting any better. I am also waiting for chest xray results for further diagnosis.
My question is, do I have a good chance to claim on my travel insurance for cancelling my trip even though its over 2 weeks away? I rather be fully recovered than take the risk and go away on holiday.
My travel insurance is part of my Bank current account and the holiday was booked before I was struck down with this Bronchitis.
Thanks

I think it's best to talk to the insurer but....
Do you have any other medical conditions?
When did you book the trip?
What was the date you first went to the GP regarding this?
What's the start date/renewal date on the policy?0 -
Assuming no pre'existing, correct insurance bought etc
It all comes down to what your GP says. If he explicitly says your not fit to travel then the insurer will pay. If he says you are fit to travel but understands you want to recuperate at home then the insurer will not pay.0 -
You may also have to declare the condition that you are now suffering from! - read the policy terms and conditions to check.
In the worst case scenario you may find that they want to load your premium or not provide cover - and you can't claim on the policy for cancelling your trip as you are fit (in the Doctor's opinion) to travel.
This is a grey area and IMHO is not really treating customers fairly.0 -

I do have other medical conditions but never had this before.
I booked the trip in Jan 2014 but only started falling ill a month ago.
Went to GP 2 weeks ago.
The travel insurance comes part of my Premier bank account so i'm automatically covered when i go on holiday.0 -
Maybe wait another week or so, see if you feel better, then ring your insurance company and see what they say.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Have you told the insurer about other medical conditions? Are any of the breathing related?
I would contact them now and talk through all of the above, they will then let you know how you are covered.0
