Misleading "sale" prices leading to panic buying?

To add some balance we recently had vinyl laid in three rooms in our house; for comparable quality vinyl our local independent quoted almost £250 more for 3 small rooms, compared to Carpet right.
I appreciate the sheds and national chains get a lot of bad press on here, but then people do need to remember that a lot of the folk on here have a vested interest in promoting local independents."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
The way an average retailer will work out their sales are
January - Sale
February - Sale Extension
March - Out of sale but still offers
April - Easter Sale
May - Sale Extension
June - Out of sale but still offers
July - Summer Sale
August - Sale Extension
September - Out of sale but still offers
October - Autumn Sale
November - Sale Extension
December - Out of sale but still offers.
You could almost mark off the sale months for the year in January.
As I said, this isn't an exact science, but it's good to use as a general rule of thumb.
Hope this helps.0 -

Once they cost in the gripperods, clearing furniture, delivery, installation, drinking you tea, all these costs can add up and the £10m2 suddenly doesn't seem so cheap.
Just to reinforce this, I have two identical sized bedrooms. First one was done by Carpetright in the sales, and total cost for gripper, underlay, carpet and fitting was 3 hundred and odd. The carpet was a synthetic twist and hasn't lasted very well.
On the second bedroom, bought an all wool offcut from local carpet fitter, total cost for gripper, underlay, carpet and fitting was 3 hundred and odd.... So, same price at non sale prices and a far better quality carpet..... I'd say shop local.0 -
Yep, just do your research, don't get tricked by the huge discounts and sales - you may well get a decent deal at Carpetright but you may not so never make assumptions.

So you fouled up and bought the wrong carpet from Carpetright.
Your mistake , nothing to do with the shop.
Always do your homework and compare identical carpets and all expenses .0
