Kitchen advice

Hi

Wondering if any of you might be able to suggest an alternative to the baulthup b1 range? I really love the look of this range but it is looking a fair bit out of my price range.

The doors are very thick with a downward sloping top edge which acts as the integrated handle. There are very few colour options but I an looking at a very pale grey.

Their carcasses come pre-assembled and the drawers are very sturdy.

Is anyone able to suggest an alternative range which might fit the bill?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Sorry should have mentioned its a matte finish I'm looking for.
I had looked at the howdens ranges and I'll certainly keep them in mind though.

The b1 doors are about twice the thickness of howdens (and any other ranges I've looked at) and I appreciate it may well be that there isn't a directly comparable one elsewhere!

    Thanks again!

DIY Kitchens do a matte handlesless design called Luca and it comes in 10 different colours (Lamp Room Grey probably most like what you are after!)

My parents have just had a DIY Kitchen installed and are very pleased with the quality of the units.

Offering Howdens and DIY Kitchens as an alternative to Bulthaup:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Bulthaup are probably the best kitchens in the world. They cost a fortune but I would love to be able to say its a product I design and retail. Nevertheless....

carebear1976 - this might be the answer to your question - http://www.leicht.com/en/products/handle-less-kitchens/largo-fg-lg-avance-lg/ See the fourth image. Leicht do the Avance range where the doors are slanted back, offered in a wide range of finishes and cost perhaps half what a bulthaup would. Hope this helps.

Your correct with regards to "snobbery" and German kitchens. There is no doubt that some are premium quality over standard UK kitchens but theres is a huge amount of marketing bullsh*t with German kitchens. I've seen plenty of German kitchens with 15mm carcases and poor quality hinges.

Rememeber that the vast majority of kitchens (including the "top quality"German ones) the carcases are constructed from melamine faced chipboard, cheap as chips and one sheet costing about £25.00 can make 2 carcaces, a pair of good quality, soft close hinges will cost less than £7.00, sort close drawer runners cost arount £8-£12.00 a pair so it puts all kitchens into prospective. They (including German manufacturers) are making complete carcases for less than £50 including labour when mass produced on a factory line. I will concede that in general they use thicker edgebandings ( after cutting the chipbard edges are finished with edging strips to hide the chipboard core) Most sheds use a 0.7mm edgebanding and the better ones 2mm or 3mm thick.

The advantage that German manufacturers do have over UK ones is that they are more flexible with regards to making bespoke sized units. The majority of manufacturers in this country won't make you a unit unless its 300,400,500,600,800,900 or 1000mm wide.

Claiming that any kitchen manufacturers makes the "Best kitchens in the world" should be taken with a huge pinch of salt.
  • hiii all!!

I was originally going to go with a Bulthaup Kitchen in my house. The B1 was just about to come out so it wasn't an option but it looked good and the price was much better than the other Bulthaup systems. However, as much as I LOVE all things Bulthaup I needed more versatility with material choices and the B1 is an even more limited palette.

I ended up going with polaris builds 4 u - another kitchen remodelling company....
