Thanks Silver, no cost from my home town direct is £160 plus, but it's half that to oxford, how regularly do trains run on weekend? Would you travel to oxford then get train to Bicester without worry lol thanks for info
Sorry I was being a bit cheeky
There is a bus service (ticketed by Chiltern Railways) from Oxford to Bicester Town, it takes about 45 minutes.
Have a play around with the train booking sites and see what you get from home to oxford and from oxford to bicester. Check too if there are options to split your journey (take alook at the MSE pages on rail travel)0 -

I think the practicool is a good size. Mine generally has (big) purse, make up bag, iPad, phone, hairbrush, my anti bacterial paraphernalia, and a few other odds and ends in. Has front and back pockets on the outside too. I'd say is comparable with a Cath Kidston day bag size, which is the other one I use for everyday stuff

Yes they're hiring a car, not sure if they've got a car seat organised as part of it or not. It's a lot to carry around at the airports- 2 kids, 4 cases, 2 adults and a buggy plus car seat so I said to make sure there is a car seat at the other end, it's one less thing for them to worry about
Thanks folks, I knew you'd have an answer :Txxlouisexx56 wrote: »When we went to Florida, Virgin carried our buggy and car seat free of charge, in addition to our actual luggage.

Yes Virgin will let them take a car seat FOC, and I would recommend they do this rather than hiring one. It will be checked into the hold - I always used to stick a pack of nappies/blankets/jacket etc in the car seat before wrapping it up
They sometimes get chucked around a bit, and also if it's raining it may get wet in the transition from plane to carousel so I would definitely recommend bubble wrapping it and putting it in a carrier such as this

If you are in an accident car seats can become damaged in ways that you can not see, so if that car seat was to be involved in a second accident, it may well not do the job it's designed to do and put the child at more risk.
When you are pregnant you are always advised to buy a new car seat for this reason,
With rentals, those car seats are in and out of different cars all the time. Who knows what has happened with them?
I understand for a lot of people it is a hassle though. But we drive our car to the airport so our car seats are with us already0
